Learning To Think Like A Progressive

If you are a progressive living in Atlanta, you believe that the Arctic ice has melted and moved to your driveway.

Progressives also believe that the record ice coverage is caused by disappearing ice.

For some climate scientists, January’s extremes and the atmospheric patterns that nurtured and sustained them are fresh bits of information to apply to these intriguing questions: Has global warming’s effect on the Arctic set the stage for persistent weather patterns that lead to extremes? If so, is the decline in Arctic sea ice the stage manager for the wintry events?

    Progressives think?

  2. Mohatdebos says:

A true progressive is a critical thinker who believes everything written in New York Times, votes the straight democratic ticket, and wakes up every morning eager to learn what new explanation the shaman have for why their prophecies are failing.

Isn’t it odd how they keep stating that the melting of arctic ice is causing the cold weather this year in the U.S. without ever mentioning how much the arctic ice recovered last year.

    According to http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/res/glcfs/glcfs.php?lake=l&ext=ice&type=N&hr=00
the GLakes are 87.1% covered in ice. Just two days ago it was about 80%.

Wonder what a “thinking” progressive will make of this?

If there were such an animal (a thinking progressive), it would bloviate something about all the “missing” heat hiding at the bottom of Lake Superior……

      • EW3 says:

There have been many thinking progressives.
Ben Franklin, Jefferson, Madison, Washington, Teddy Roosevelt and more recently Senator Moynahan from NY, Mayor Koch from NYC, and many others.
Problem is the term “progressive” along with the term “liberal” have been corrupted.
Liberal used to mean open minded, not one of those loony liberals in DC are open minded. And progressive used to mean something very different also. Progressive was to do good thing for the people. Now progressive means to grow government by any means possible regardless of it’s benefit to people.

31,487 American scientists have signed this petition, including 9,029 with PhDs

“These scientists are instead convinced that the human-caused global warming hypothesis is without scientific validity and that government action on the basis of this hypothesis would unnecessarily and counterproductively damage both human prosperity and the natural environment of the Earth.”

“A jury convicted former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin Wednesday on 20 of 21 federal corruption counts, including bribery, marking a stunning fall for the feisty official who gained a national profile following Hurricane Katrina.

The 57-year-old Democrat, who led his city through the aftermath of the 2005 storm, was found guilty of charges that he accepted bribes, free trips and other gratuities from contractors in exchange for helping them secure millions of dollars in city work while he was in office.

He will remain free on bond while he awaits sentencing. Each of the charges carries a sentence from three to 20 years, but how long he would serve was unclear and will depend on a pre-sentence investigation and various sentencing guidelines. No sentencing date was set.”

We already have over 4 inches of snow in Mid NC. Jeff Masters was forecasting a dusting yesterday now the forecast has been up dated from 3-4 inches at 1:30 to 7 to 8 inches.

Please note we get snow once every five years or so. This is the second snowstorm this year. (Actually third if you include the 1/2 inch a couple days ago)
