Experts Forecast One Foot Of Sea Level Rise In 17 Months

Whenever climate experts need funding and attention, they make mindless hysterical sea level forecasts. They did it in 1986, and they are doing it again now. The amazing thing is that people still listen to them.

SIGNIFIGANT RISE IN SEA LEVEL NOW SEEMS CERTAIN

MANY scientists are so sure that the sea level will rise visibly in the coming decades that they are advising planners to adopt new strategies now. A predicted rise in sea level of one foot within the next 30 to 40 years will drive much of the Atlantic and Gulf shoreline inward by a hundred feet and some of it by more than a thousand feet, according to marine geologists. The environmental and economic consequences will be felt much farther inland.

Unless the ‘experts’ say otherwise –

Then it will be droughts and the gnashing of teeth.

  2. Anthony Bremner says:

It seems that Bill O’Reilly has lost his mind? Answering a question if climate change is real or not he said that “of course it is real, there is garbage everywhere, it is so bad in China that you cannot row a boat in the rivers because of the garbage floating in it” . He seems to have no clue what climate change is or that it is related to temperature. I hope that he gets a lot of letters on that one.

    • Did Bill O’Reilly ever have one?

      • Ernest Bush says:

He did years ago, but he must have caught something causing brain damage from all those liberals he’s interviewed seeking to be “fair and balanced.” He’s caught the arrogance of the elite that drives me crazy for sure. I can only stand so much stupidity from him, so I rarely watch the show, anymore.
He thinks the earth is warming, whether its man made warming or not. Sen. Rubio set the record straight for him today, but I doubt it will stick.

    • Dave N says:

CO2 is very magical; it creates garbage (from nothing) that makes its way into rivers and streams.

It also causes Jupiter’s great red spot to change in size.

    • Eric Simpson says:

Bill O’Reilly claims to be an independent, but most of the time he sounds like either a Democrat or a someone that is confused and ideologically incoherent. Whether it be on “climate change,” amnesty, or calling for an end to “speculation” on commodities, O’Reilly comes off as little more than a halfwit bloviator.

  3. They obviously meant 50-60 years when they printed 30-40. Journalists always make that mistake, you know. Just like they did with Hansen. It’s funny, because they never seem to catch that mistake until the prediction is just a few months from being busted.

  4. Gamecock says:

Where are all of these geniuses now?

A quick look at Orrin H. Pilkey on wiki shows he is doing fine, suffered no career injury for his outlandish proclamation, and now has his own program at Western Carolina University. Bull Science pays well.

    • Jason Calley says:

Hey Gamecock, you make a great point. These guys apparently have no shame — the classic hallmark of scam artists. They are not actually scientists; they are con artists with credentials.

  5. mikegeo says:

Strangely enough Pilkey is also the author of a book – “Useless Arithmetic” that says that it
. . . .”offers fascinating case studies depicting how the seductiveness of quantitative models has led to unmanageable nuclear waste disposal practices, poisoned mining sites, unjustifiable faith in predicted sea level rise rates, bad predictions of future shoreline erosion rates, overoptimistic cost estimates of artificial beaches, and a host of other thorny problems. The authors demonstrate how many modelers have been reckless, employing fudge factors to assure “correct” answers and caring little if their models actually worked.”
Not having read the book I’m not sure if he looked in the mirror and had an epiphany or thinks its others that are the problem.

  6. Morgan says:

Nobody really cares whether Kim Kardashian had her butt implants removed or not, but they buy millions of magazines to look at the pictures. It’s the same with global warming… people love to read about it but nobody believes it. Really, nobody cares. They read the paper for entertainment when they are bored. You don’t expect the newspapers to run articles about sea levels staying the same do you? Imagine the following headlines:

GLOBAL TEMPERATURES WILL THE BE SAME THIS YEAR AS THEY WERE LAST YEAR!!

NOTHING HAPPENED IN ANTARCTICA LAST YEAR!

    • Jason Calley says:

Nobody cares? My brother and his wife care. They are seriously concerned about Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming. I have no doubt that in another few weeks when they start their trans-continental RV trip to sight-see the US, they will spend much of their trip thinking about how I and my family can cut back on our CO2 emissions and save the planet.

  7. Bob Knows says:

Significant rise in stupid at NY Times seems certain. Almost nobody would notice a 1 foot rise in sea level.
