Finally : Proof That Antarctica Is Melting Catastrophically
This entry was posted in Uncategorized. Bookmark the permalink.
Dr, Chris Mas Turkey and his ship!
But every idiot knows that it’s the interior that is melting, where it is 100 below.
That’s not a good scientific argument. Antarctic water is so used to the extreme cold it stays liquid at temperatures than would instantly turn city tap water into ice cubes.
Yes your right CW, but a ship any ship, even the most powerful blow-torch of an ice breaker still needs LIQUID water to sail, float, and move in if it is to make headway. That is the big difference between any boat on this planet and a cock-tail swizzle stick.
Ahh. The old city versus country argument. City water is soft, weak, chemically enhanced and wouldn’t last one minute at zero deg C, while country water is tough as nails, grizzled, pure and can handle any temperature Mother Nature wants to throw at it.
😀
The idiot who put that “expedition” together had no more brains than the average junior high school window smasher, but the Russians who rented the boat to him should have known better.
It was lucky the hull didn’t crack, maybe the Russians were hoping to get a new vessel out of somebody’s stupidity (Chris Turney couldn’t pay anyway so I don’t know what the motive was)
Maybe ship break in half, maybe not. We get paid all same.
In Russia, ship breaks iceberg!
I love Old Russian Sayings.
This is nothing. It’s known that during the Great Patriotic War the values of cosine often climbed to 3 in the Russian artillery units.
If I’m not mistaken, the purpose of this “Expedition” was to follow in the footsteps of an earlier expedition. The idea was as I read it in the newspaper was to contrast the much warmer temperatures today compared to the much colder temperatures 100 years ago.
The fact that Turkey’s ship was seized by the ice on December 24th 2013 is an early Christmas Present for Steven and everyone commenting positively on Steven’s blog. The 1911-1914 expedition BTW, made it all the way to the Shores of Antarctica, but the 2013 maritime expedition was halted by ice 60 Kilometers short of their goal and incidentally on one of the longest days of Summer at the South Pole.
Everyone stand up and give your best Chris Turkey cheer: Gobble, Gobble, Gobble, SNAFU… SNAFU… SNAFU… Sish – Boom – Bah.
If we had journalists instead of Willi Muenzenberg’s Propagandists, The Chris Mas Turkey would have been the laughingstock of the entire world.
Gail, even at that it wasn’t as bad (or funny) as the evil Carbon Dioxide feed stock resupply mission to Nome Alaska in the winter of 2012-13 when the land fast sea ice froze solid for almost 3/4 of a mile from the beach. This was “unprecedented.” The tanker ship finally had to lay hoses across the sea ice so that she could pump vital fuel ashore to Nome.
I had not heard about that one. Thanks for the heads up.
“Expert Scientists” on Macquarie Island are mystified that some plants on the island are dying off. They got rid of the rabbits, rats and mice, yet the plants are dying off. They say it must be climate change, cos that’s all that’s left. I’ll take a wild ass guess and say its the COLD. Otherwise, why is the Antarctic sea ice growing to record extent??
