Record low Atlantic and US hurricane activity? No problem – make up some fake statistics about a single storm in the Philippines.
US is record cold? No worries – jack up the data tampering to record levels.
Terrorist attack before the election? Make up a fake story about a YouTube video.
No scientific consensus? No problem. Commission a fake report by fake scientists to create a non-existent consensus.
Deficit looking bad before the election? Tell the Secretary of the Treasury to lie about it.
When you have no concern for the truth or reality, and a legion of useful idiots to back you up – you can hold power for a little while.

When a group subscribes to beliefs that defy reality, they should expect ridicule; singling out any of them doesn’t mean that the others are immune. Given the nature of Steve’s blog, it was a fitting choice.
Geitner was a known tax cheat before being appointed. Imagine my shock at learning that the biggest liar to ever inhabit the White House, and a man who cheated on his taxes, conspired to lie to the public.
Integrity matters.
Wasn’t just tax cheat, he was embezzling. The World Bank people get their taxes refunded so their compensation is the same no matter where they live in the world (which is why their solution to everything almost always includes higher taxes). He submitted the request and was given the funds to reimburse him for the taxes that he didn’t pay. That’s embezzlement.
