Re: random thoughts on those that continue the scam.
It is very seductive for a person to think that he is involved in saving the world. When $$$$, awards and fame are used to reinforce behavior, a human becomes conditioned like Pavlov’s dog to continue that reinforced behavior. The delusion that one is saving the world, can lead to noble cause corruption and those with an overwhelming emotional need for having their egos stroked or suffering from superman complex, are easy prey for these feelings and conditioning.
Then there is also the fear that new information that conflates with such conditioning, threatens the delusion of saving the world and threatens one’s raison d’être. This fear can be overwhelming and often drives humans to irrationalism and rejection of facts and science.
With respect to journalists, you will recall that in the Climategate emails, scientists discussed which journalists they deemed friendly to their cause and could depend on to get their POV in press. There was also the journo-list scandal that revealed such noble cause corruption in journalism. In the past such journalists were know as useful idiots.
Andy Rekvin is more than just a pretender. He’s an important personality in the vanguard of promotion of the scam. All of his fellow travelers have the same fallback position. They believe that even if the scam is fraudulent they’re still doing what is right for the planet. The ends justify the means. and without the scam nobody would have ever heard of him.
It would be interesting to know who was the other “scientist” at the special ‘contact group’. Apparently this person had know problem with playing ball with the scammers.

This blog post is about wondering why a NY Times reporter might stick to the AGW scam indefinitely, and I then ran into today’s story of a Times reporter being likely fired for a politically incorrect outlook. The blank slate theory of natural ability is yet another junk science scam that is requiring old activist “scientists” to die off for a younger generation of geneticists to replace the politically tainted old ideas with hard facts. It’s funny that simple straightforward evolutionary theory is now resisted by religiosity at both extremes of politics. The closet Marxists hate it as much as the Bible thumpers and yet officially the left claims to be scientific in their authority and the Vatican even decreed that believing in evolution is just fine.

From my POV, CAGW Climate change derangement has been a political scam from the start. Hansen et al were not doing unbias science when they gave their evidence/opinion to congress way back when, it was all politics. What did the CRU emails show? Politics.
The infighting was, and is, the pro-nuclear power technocrats (Hansen et al) and the pro-renewables ‘back to nature lunies’ (GreenPeas, UN, WWF, etc.). On both sides they want to kill fossil fuel use, and to hell with the collateral damage to the public, for the public will always pay for the change, and pay well.
Science be damned it’s about money, power, and influence.

At dinner here, somehow my cousin was talking about the badness of conservatives or their politics, and took as the most objectionable thing to be those that “don’t believe in global warming.” Now he was stunned by that apparently, and I was silent as I don’t think I had broadcast my own views, though they have may have reached him some way. But there you have it. You have to believe in global warming. Like otherwise you are some kind of climate atheist or something.
A lot of them don’t even realise they’re signing themselves up for ridicule… Sad.
The simple truth is that today anyone screaming that AGW is real and serious is part of the scam. Maybe you couldn’t say that 5 or 10 years ago but today it is obvious to anyne with more then two brain cells to rub together that we are in (or at least we were in) a normal cyclical period of moderate warming. Not even as warm as the medieval warming period was. Maybe not even warm enought to correct the effects of the Maunder minimum mini-ice age. The warming has stopped for 18 years in spite of a relentless increase in atmospheric CO2. By now every honest scientist has serious doubts about AGW if they ever embraced the theory and anyone still pushing this propaganda line is a bonafide AGW scammer.
Or a Sheeple with blinders on.
