Politics, Not Science

Earth is not warming any more. The poles are not melting. Sea level rise has not accelerated. Hurricanes are not getting worse. Tornadoes are not getting worse. Heatwaves are not getting worse. Droughts are not getting worse. Every single basis for this scam is complete nonsense.

Global warming has nothing to do with science anymore. It has been hijacked by politicians.

Prof Stavins, Harvard’s Professor of Business and Government, was one of two ‘co-ordinating lead authors’ of a key report published by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) earlier this month.

Prof Stavins told The Mail on Sunday yesterday that he had been especially concerned by what happened at a special ‘contact group’. He was one of only two scientists present, surrounded by ‘45 or 50’ government officials.

Three quarters of the original version of the document ended up being deleted.

I wonder why journalists like Andy Rekvin continue to pretend this is something other than a massive scam.

Conclusion: Andy Revkin has been hijacked by politicians.

Imagine the scuttlebutt at parties and social events, the gossip around the vaunted water cooler IF Revkin had an original thought AND it clashed with the hive-minded centroid of consciousness in NYC …. the horror. Nowadays it’s something like this:
“Mister President, most esteemed and excellent if I do say so myself; with the scientific consensus on Man-Made Global Warming, and bipartisan support of settled-science – you and your Party could very well take over the world! I just need funding…

Re: random thoughts on those that continue the scam.

It is very seductive for a person to think that he is involved in saving the world. When $$$$, awards and fame are used to reinforce behavior, a human becomes conditioned like Pavlov’s dog to continue that reinforced behavior. The delusion that one is saving the world, can lead to noble cause corruption and those with an overwhelming emotional need for having their egos stroked or suffering from superman complex, are easy prey for these feelings and conditioning.

Then there is also the fear that new information that conflates with such conditioning, threatens the delusion of saving the world and threatens one’s raison d’être. This fear can be overwhelming and often drives humans to irrationalism and rejection of facts and science.

With respect to journalists, you will recall that in the Climategate emails, scientists discussed which journalists they deemed friendly to their cause and could depend on to get their POV in press. There was also the journo-list scandal that revealed such noble cause corruption in journalism. In the past such journalists were know as useful idiots.

Andy Rekvin is more than just a pretender. He’s an important personality in the vanguard of promotion of the scam. All of his fellow travelers have the same fallback position. They believe that even if the scam is fraudulent they’re still doing what is right for the planet. The ends justify the means. and without the scam nobody would have ever heard of him.

It would be interesting to know who was the other “scientist” at the special ‘contact group’. Apparently this person had know problem with playing ball with the scammers.

Isn’t this more about you and yours (literally: “your kind” – and that does _not_ mean “you are kind”) in New York rather than broader America, as I just know you’re itching to get the words Tea Party in there somehow …

        Your one creepy dude.

This blog post is about wondering why a NY Times reporter might stick to the AGW scam indefinitely, and I then ran into today’s story of a Times reporter being likely fired for a politically incorrect outlook. The blank slate theory of natural ability is yet another junk science scam that is requiring old activist “scientists” to die off for a younger generation of geneticists to replace the politically tainted old ideas with hard facts. It’s funny that simple straightforward evolutionary theory is now resisted by religiosity at both extremes of politics. The closet Marxists hate it as much as the Bible thumpers and yet officially the left claims to be scientific in their authority and the Vatican even decreed that believing in evolution is just fine.

Your post? I can barely parse it.

        • _Jim says:

As if; Note it wasn’t a Dallas Morning News reporter that was fired, but a presumed ‘librul’ from a known ‘librul’ publication. Who is enforcing thought and speech codes now? The New York Times is it?

You are one nice piece of work, Nik.

And why are you dragging in evolution and the Catholic Church? Maybe you really are ‘New York thick’ as the saying goes (and as I have observed of some New Yorkers in the first person.) Anyone with a modicum of understanding and a Catholic religious education knows the Church’s position and teaching on this subject. Do you want me to post some sections from an early year catechism text? That would be from some 40 years ago now …

You seem to assume an awful lot, as you have been reprimanded for before. But, any deviation from that course would not make you -=NikFromBellevue=- now would it? Typical assuming NE librul behavior. You know, New Yorkers have a bad rep down here, and this is NOT my native state! On my trips to the city I had no issues with NYC, save for the room initially reserved for me at the Algonquin (hotel that is, right there off Times Square.)

        • -=NikFromNYC=- says:

Jim taunted: “Publick skool grad Nik?”

Playfully using juvenile West Coast slang was entirely appropriate after your obsessive personal twisting of my simple post.

I’ll state it clearly then: you are a creepy fella, Jimbo Jankins the Flame Warrior who is frantically stuffing straw in my shirt to pretend I’m an Upper West Side liberal.

          (A) Jim: Fresno City College night school business major.

          (B) Nik: UofMN, Columbia University Ph.D. with honor, Harvard postdoc, with laboratory work in virus genetics, exploratory organometallic synthesis, organic synthesis, and nanofabrication.

My comment was topical and added value to the thread. Your responses are pure bile and stalking in tone, as you insanely imply that I am insane the very week I was intrumental in getting Steve’s software validated by multiple third parties, including alarmists. Your attitude is tainted by pure anti urban bigotry against a registered Republican. Such aggression is unhealthy, Jim, bad for the heart. Dr. Nik suggests you go to one of those stress clinics, before it kills you.

From my POV, CAGW Climate change derangement has been a political scam from the start. Hansen et al were not doing unbias science when they gave their evidence/opinion to congress way back when, it was all politics. What did the CRU emails show? Politics.
The infighting was, and is, the pro-nuclear power technocrats (Hansen et al) and the pro-renewables ‘back to nature lunies’ (GreenPeas, UN, WWF, etc.). On both sides they want to kill fossil fuel use, and to hell with the collateral damage to the public, for the public will always pay for the change, and pay well.

Science be damned it’s about money, power, and influence.

  14. Cheshirered says:

If almost every barometer by which we were told to measure man made ‘global warming’ has now fallen against the theory, what remains of the theory?
At some point someone in authority is obligated to mention that there may be a slight problem with the theory, when compared to actual observations.
Is that really too much to ask?

Don’t laugh at this answer, but: “the inherent inertia as embodied in government paid-for and sponsored research”.

You can track it up through your (mostly local) democrat representative and/or senator through to the budget as reflected in allocated spending by NOAA and NASA as well as specific grants disbursed along the way …

Because it’s not about logic and reason, you have to believe. And this is triply true in Europe, as the Germany’s version of The Daily Show lampoons their failed green-energy transition:

    • _Jim says:

      That’s good stuff, Eric.

    • Eric Simpson says:

Thanks Jim, and I just had the idea to replay a relevant part of one of my comments from a couple of days ago:

      My cousin from Europe
At dinner here, somehow my cousin was talking about the badness of conservatives or their politics, and took as the most objectionable thing to be those that “don’t believe in global warming.” Now he was stunned by that apparently, and I was silent as I don’t think I had broadcast my own views, though they have may have reached him some way. But there you have it. You have to believe in global warming. Like otherwise you are some kind of climate atheist or something.

    • Dave N says:

A lot of them don’t even realise they’re signing themselves up for ridicule… Sad.

  16. GoneWithTheWind says:

The simple truth is that today anyone screaming that AGW is real and serious is part of the scam. Maybe you couldn’t say that 5 or 10 years ago but today it is obvious to anyne with more then two brain cells to rub together that we are in (or at least we were in) a normal cyclical period of moderate warming. Not even as warm as the medieval warming period was. Maybe not even warm enought to correct the effects of the Maunder minimum mini-ice age. The warming has stopped for 18 years in spite of a relentless increase in atmospheric CO2. By now every honest scientist has serious doubts about AGW if they ever embraced the theory and anyone still pushing this propaganda line is a bonafide AGW scammer.
