The Antarctica is melting and is going to drown us all story has been a useful tool for generating research money – for as long as scientists have known about Antarctica.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Reblogged this on the WeatherAction Blog.
Edgeworth David (the Professor) did go to the Antarctic and reached the South Magnetic Pole with Douglas Mawson. He was a half decent geologist. Of course saying the ice cap will melt flooding the worlds ports proves he was also a bit of a nutty Professor.

It does not take ice caps melting to produce a record local flood. Look at Bangladesh in the 70s.
During the ice age with much of the world desert, I imagine much of what was the human race spent a lot of time on the coasts or near other bodies of water. The sea provided fish, clams, and salt. It must have been quite a shock during a period like melt water pulse 1A to have water rising at 1.5+ inches per year. People living in lowlands might see their homes and hunting grounds flooded within a generation.
There is also a theory that the Black Sea which was a freshwater lake had a sudden flood when the land gave way and let the sea in. The water went from fresh to salt and rose something on the order of 300 ft might have been the source of the legend of the Noah’s flood.
Shock news:
Scientists say that the Southern Ice is indeed retreating!
Well….. At least it was in 1949. Bloody alarmists.

Proof that melting polar ice caps raise sea levels by 50 metres!! Time to get to higher ground!

Okay. It’s not that urgent. But can I have some grant money to issue alarming press releases?
Top CSIRO scientist says last Ice Age was only 6000 years ago. Anyone saying it was 10,000 years ago or more is a Denier!
