Straight from the “Urban Dictionary” * (I kid you not!):

    1. choom
    To smoke weed.
    Sunday morning choomin’ rules

    2. Choom
A Hawaiian term for smoking Marijuana.
Obama and his friends at the Punahou School in Hawaii called themselves the “Choom Gang” — choom means smoking weed — and drove around in a Volkswagen bus called the “Choomwagon.”

Duped by the Dazzle and Dazzled by the Duper

“Psychopaths have just what it takes to defraud and bilk others: they can be fast talkers, they can be charming, they can be self-assured and at ease in social situations; they are cool under pressure, unfazed by the possibility of being found out, and totally ruthless. And even when they are exposed, they can carry on as if nothing has happened, often making their accusers the targets of accusations of being victimized by THEM.” ~Robert D. Hare, PhD.

The Republicans and the Republican Party stand no chance against this/these kinds of personalities … unless … they get serious and build-up some backbone, backbone very much similar to that necessary when facing a bully …

I share your pessimism(s) since all political “bodies” are merely cross-sections of society, since a significant number of politicians (if not all of them) are only catering to what society wants, and since the inebriating effects of political-power are too tempting to avoid for any man or woman.

I believe it was the philosopher Hobbes who described the need for a commonwealth as a leviathan; the size of the favor being granted directly-correlates to the level of inebriation, and without a commonwealth, we would simply tear each other apart, hence an undefeatable sea monster (loosely quoted).

The great economist Joseph Schumpeter might tell us to recognize it, accept that it is going to happen (like a train wreck), and position ourselves to benefit from it or at least protect ourselves from it.

I quit looking for widespread conservative-unity across the country (even though I know it exists) because of what Gerrt Hofstede’s cultural dimensions might identify as a conservative’s self-sufficiency, their individualism, and their low power distances. The individual strength of a conservative is our collective weakness.

Best wishes America, I was a good run (President Eisenhower forward).

The challenge is to find a way to work with national leaders like Obama, Putin, and heads of other nations and international organizations, like the UN’s IPCC, etc. for the benefit of society.

” The challenge is to find a way to work with national leaders like … ”

How? They are unresponsive to attempts at redress of grievances? Have you been paying attention to the goings-on in congress and the ‘words’ spoken, in particular, by the president?

Or, were you just being funny? ‘Work with’ as in a march with torches and pitchforks and give them the Nicolae Ceau?escu treatment? You’re a little hard to read sometimes omanuel (opaque but monolithic).

Jim, you’re here sandwiched between life giving Iron Sun man and Ancient Gods guy, both with web site publications to delve down the lunatic fringe rabbit hole.

    • The challenge is to stand up to them, and beat them, not to treat them as people to be “worked with”. They are worthless bullies–tyrants.

John Adams said the Constitution was meant for a moral society/people. We are far from a moral society/people any longer; thus on the precipice of losing the remains of the Republic.

    • Brian H says:

The guiding vision of the Founders was Restraint of Power; the vision of the Progressives is the opposite, with controls to make sure they are the only ones who have it.
