Totalitarians Always Start By Confiscating Guns And Ammunition

The New York Times reports :

KIEV, Ukraine — It is by now a well-established pattern. Armed, masked men in their 20s to 40s storm a public building of high symbolic value in a city somewhere in eastern Ukraine, evict anyone still there, seize weapons and ammunition,

Ukraine Says That Militants Won the East – NYTimes.com

Totalitarianism always begins with seizing guns and ammunition.

Nazis did it in Germany. Russians are doing it in Ukraine. And Democrats are doing it in New York.

Darwinian theory proves that Democrats evolved from the Chimpanzees, so we will have to wait another 1,000,000 years for Evolution to take its course

Liberty’s enemy knows that ownership is the “king-pin” preventing them from complete victory; they already have @ 49% of the country taking handouts of some form or another. Liberty’s enemy knows that people who earn what they own are more-likely to vigorously-defend it than people who are simply handed properties, money, or possessions.

All differences of opinion hinge on a perceived sense of ownership; liberals want to control the property that someone else earned. It is going to get worse before the pendulum swings in the other direction,

    Ownership is EVERYTHING!

Thanks for this post. You have a great ability to see the important patterns behind the distracting diversities.

How times and definitions have changed since 1942.

“Everyone knows at least one totalitarian individual, that is. one whose life is directed to one objective, mastership, ownership, amassing of wealth, etc.. but have also seen that the objective, even successfully attained, often leaves but dry ashes in the mouth.
    ….
The Democrat, on the other hand. Is really an easy going fellow who looks on life as a playground.”

Difference is that the Nazi’s stopped the people having guns, here it is the people stopping the government having them 🙂

Non totalitarian governments put a limit on weapons owned by the public as as well of course, including the USA.

Guns are a ghetto problem mostly. Best to get rid of those using remote sensing trucks to replace stop and frisk. Big city folk rarely even carry knives any more. What do they want guns for? The police really are only two minutes away and everybody has cell phones now for emergency calls and the phones have built in video cameras and there’s surveillance cameras on every building. Upstate NY is a completely different matter of course. Any solution that comes from the federal government simply fails to take account of local conditions. That’s true of most if not all policy issues.

      Not bloody likely Nik…

“According to American Police Beat, the average response time for an emergency call is 10 minutes. Atlanta has the worst response time with 11 to 12 minutes and Nashville comes in at a lightning speed of 9 minutes.

The Department of Justice, with their statistical prowess, reports that the best response time is 4 minutes and the worst over 1 hour. Interpretation? If you live in an upper income area you probably are privy to the 4 minute response time, while middle to rural areas will see a much longer response time.

Now here is where things get interesting. Even though the Department of Justice determined that the average police response time to a 911 call is 4 minutes, the average interaction time between a criminal and his victim is 90 seconds.

That translates to you being robbed/injured/maimed/raped/murdered and waiting for an additional 2 and a half minutes for the police to arrive. The truth of the matter is that the police will almost always arrive AFTER the crime has happened and the criminal has gone.”

Zactly. If the cops call the coroner 5 minutes after your daughter is dead, or 10 minutes after she is dead, “At this point, what difference does it make?”

How stupid is the home owner ?

“and he told a hair stylist he had waited up at night to shoot intruders, prosecutors said.”

He told his hair stylist ! Well that’s top secret then … heh heh. He needs an extended magazine of brain cells.

Rather than do the sensible thing and buy an alarm and a strong armoured door etc so that even at work, or the hairdressers, he would be not burgled, he instead left his door open and started firing.

Mind you, very well groomed follicles. He will have to make sure he doesn’t get them wet when he has to bend over to pick up the soap soon.

The only crime was the illegal entering of a stranger’s garage. A ‘Come in and Steal Stuff’ sign bears no responsibility for a person choosing to do so.

  12. gator69 says:

“The Royal Governor of Massachusetts, General Thomas Gage, had forbidden town meetings from taking place more than once a year. When he dispatched the Redcoats to break up an illegal town meeting in Salem, 3000 armed Americans appeared in response, and the British retreated. Gage’s aide John Andrews explained that everyone in the area aged 16 years or older owned a gun and plenty of gunpowder.

Military rule would be difficult to impose on an armed populace. Gage had only 2,000 troops in Boston. There were thousands of armed men in Boston alone, and more in the surrounding area. One response to the problem was to deprive the Americans of gunpowder.”

I am amused, all of these guns and ammunition stored in “public buildings” … what kind of public work is being done in these “public buildings”.
