Obama’s science czar believes that low cost, available energy is evil – so they made up a bunch of BS about the climate as an excuse to choke off the US energy supply.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

Reminds me of something I heard long ago “One can have cheap energy or cheap labor.”
Full employment . . . making buggy whips.
Wasn’t it about the 1970s that there was the big “less is more” movement?
Wasn’t the first incarnation of Governor J. Brown in on that twaddle?
Did it involve “Minimalism”?
Minimalism – In the visual arts and music: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimalism
– a style that uses pared-down design elements.
Minimalism in the arts began in post–World War II Western Art, most strongly with American visual arts in the 1960s and early 1970s. Prominent artists associated with this movement include Donald Judd, John McCracken, Agnes Martin, Dan Flavin, Robert Morris, Anne Truitt, and Frank Stella.[1] It derives from the reductive aspects of Modernism and is often interpreted as a reaction against Abstract expressionism and a bridge to Postminimal art practices.
Jim,
There might always be an artistic bent to any movement, but in the late sixties at least, was more influenced in pop culture by the extravagances of psychedelic art and the wide-screen banalities of pop-art and op-art.
Instead, I’m referring to the notion of downscaling individual, and hence, societal expectations and even “needs.” Have a car? Ride a bike. Eat beef? Select vegetables.
Remember Jimmy Carter in this respect? Turn down the thermostat and wear a sweater.
Expect less. In fact demand less. It was apocalyptic economics curable by voluntary self-rationing. In today’s America, the voluntary aspect is giving way to the compulsive.
” Remember Jimmy Carter in this respect? Turn down the thermostat and wear a sweater.”
I still have HP (Agilent) and Tek test equipment purchased from the parent company from that era which still bears ‘tags’ from those days reminding the user to power off unnecessary equipment or a tag indicating the suggested warm-up time period (e.g. ” 10 min warm-up req’d “) …
At the same time, TI installed timer-controlled light switches on all the engineering floors which required ‘filling up’ (incrementing) an hour count on a switch plate equipped with a two-digit 7-segment LED display … at 5 minutes to lights-out ALL the floor lights would blink twice to remind anyone working after hours that the lights were about to be switched off.
That is the Carter legacy I remember.
..
Yea, letting people live is a high crime for this administration.
“Capital Intensive”. They ignore the fact that countries that are capital intensive have higher standards of living, relative to “Labor Intensive” countries. By default, you also get a wider income distribution, which is fine as long as the purchasing power of incomes at the lower end of the distribution are rising. I don’t have the data at hand to back it up, but I’d wager that the bottom 1/3 of earners in the most capital intensive countries enjoy a higher standard of living than the middle 1/3 of earners in the most labor intensive countries.
If you follow the progressive playbook and punish capitalists through high taxes, overly burdensome regulation and shakedowns, then the rate of investment in capital falls, the rate of job creation is lower and income growth is lower.
For evidence of the impact of Progressive economic policy see http://www.bls.gov/jlt/data.htm -> Slightly more private jobs have been destroyed than created each year since 2010.
The entire Obama/progressive agenda boils down to Capital vs Labor and the idea that labor should receive of larger share of the capitalist’s return, even though labor does not share any of the risk associated with capital investment.
Of course all these academic morons and politicians are excempt from the scam because they profit from it.
“less energy production can mean more employment…”
Utter nonsense. John Holdren is a kook; and an dangerous hater-of humanity. Our president’s science czar. Sigh.
http://zombietime.com/john_holdren/
Hodren is mistaken. He was mistaken on population, future scarcity of resources bet, and an ice age. Why should I listen to Holdren now? He proposed sterilizing people via drinking water. Why should I trust someone like this? Why didn’t sterilize himself before having 2 kids? He might have even more than two kids for all I know. Why did he feel the need to have TWO kids? Why not zero????
Could be his operative motto (although not stated openly) is: “Do as I say, not as I do”, which, for a liberal is a “given.”
We the ‘little people’ need the educated overload class to see to it we get up in the morning and begin our day thanking out overlords for the very air we breathe and the biscuits they hand out in camp before 7 for breakfast …
The only likely salvation from the excesses of this Adminstration is the hope that they will be too excessive, due to their exceeding stupidity.
