The lovely Katherine Hayhoe is pushing this mindless nonsense, showing temperatures rising vertically :

This is what people who actually measure temperatures see – temperatures horizontal.

Is there some form of dyslexia which causes Katherine to see horizontal as vertical?

It’s a case of the dreaded Eco-psycho mumbo jumbo

  3. Anything is possible says:

It’s a tough call, given the strength of the competition, but I’m voting Katherine the World’s worst climate scientist.

Her ability to do science is on a par with the ability of Chelsea’a strikers to stick the ball in the back of the net.

  4. Morgan says:

If cold causes warm and melting causes sea ice, why can’t horizontal cause vertical?

  5. Andy DC says:

The uptrend from 1979 to 1998 was just recovery from cooling that took place between 1934 and 1979. So basically flat for 80 years.

  6. John B., M.D. says:

The name of the medical condition responsible is called “torsional nystagmus” – either that, or a delusional disorder.

    • Morgan says:

Torsional nystagmus. Good one. You can see it easily with a slit lamp, their eyes just turning from side to side. 99% of the time they are asymptomatic other than the fact that their best corrected acuity is 20/25 or so. Best not to tell them they have it, so they don’t get worried. It’s nothing.

Hayhoe and Mooney…now that’s quite a pair of (arrogant, smarmy, closed-minded and so friggin’ annoying it makes me want to vomit) cult leaders. And they don’t have the capacity to recognize what it really is (“believe in the science”–that makes it self-evidently a religion!). Sorry–I’m off to barf now.

How many “Frozen Springs” like the one just experienced will it take before these fools admit that things just don’t work the way they have been touting ?
Ms. Hayhoe insults people’s intelligence one too many times here.
    That TV show was unwatchable.
Don Cheadle overacts even when he isn’t supposed to be acting,
The entire enterprise stinks to high heaven already.

She’s most likely suffering from methane-induced vertigo. It’s what happens when one’s head is perpetually stuck inside one’s rectum.

Makes you wonder why they bother with the adjustments they’ve been making if they think this is going to happen!

  12. geran says:

Each time she makes “headlines”, I think she can not get any stupider.
And each time, she amazes me.

    I can’t wait for her next one….

Katherine Hayhoe’s took off her makeup in her most recent interview.

    • Andy Oz says:

“There’s something fascinating about a smart person who defies stereotype,” Cheadle observed.

I’m guessing Don’s stereotypical smart person has a few synapses firing whilst Katherine defies that.

  14. James Strom says:

I like the simplified presentation of Marcott’s graph. Remember that Marcott admitted shortly after publication that his representation of the 20th century was “not robust”, which means that you should visualize the reconstruction with the final spike removed. Viewed in that way it represents a consistent decline in temperatures for several thousand years. It makes the 70’s fear of an ice age more reasonable than today’s panic over a possible meltdown.

  15. Perry says:

The only verticality that Hayhoe hoe hoe hoe is likely to see. Glasses & greasy hair. Paper bag please.

Having MJ give advice on Conservative Christians is like asking a blind man to describe color.

  17. Organic Fool says:

    Hey, commenter Rob Honeycutt said
“Goddard has been projecting Arctic sea ice recovery for 15 years, all the while being shown wrong.”

    • I remember flying over southern Greenland during the summer of 1999, and not seeing any sea ice. That was during my alarmist days, and I was sure that global warming had melted the North Pole.

I didn’t invent the name “Steve Goddard” until 2007.

  18. Bryan says:

I also noticed that the graph shows that the difference between the peak of the Medieval Warm Period and the coldest part of the Little Ice Age was about 0.35 Celsius degrees (less than one Fahrenheit degree).
