Many in the Muslim leadership have had an affinity for fascism even going back to WW II. Saddam idolized Hitler. Before that while the Brits were fighting the Italians and Germans to the west in Libya and Tunisia they constantly had to watch their backs in Iran/Iraq and use military force there at times because the leaders there were conspiring to work with Hitler. It was a very near thing not covered well in most general histories about WW II but Churchill forced his military, despite it’s limited resources, to divert enough forces to the east to take control before the Germans got established. Meanwhile the leadership of Turkey at the time sat on the fence and remained neutral because of fear of Hitler despite the US and UK doing all they could to get the Turks to present a united front with Greece early in the war and did not enter on the Allied side until two months before Germany capitulated.

You can look at any year out of of the last thousand and find a drought somewhere, a flood somewhere a famine somewhere, a tornado somewhere, etc. It is a big world out there and the weather is always doing something that people don’t like. You could cut carbon emissions to 0 and that would not change.
