Massive Flood In California After Two Decades Of Drought

One hundred fifty-five years ago, California had a massive flood after two decades of drought. The only things different were that CO2 was below 300 PPM, they didn’t have the dimwitted Jerry Brown for governor, and the state wasn’t populated by tens of millions of left-wing morons who believe droughts and floods are caused by other people’s SUV’s.

Ya, if it goes they, those SOBS, will blame your SUV.

It California, they will probably start dismantling all the other dams.

How far can you get with an electric car at night in cold weather conditions, 5 people in the car 2 dogs 1 cat , luggage etc ?

Remember there are 150,000 people going in the same direction at that same moment.

      • Chris w. says:

Depends on the car Chevy Bolt goes about 240 mi.

I drive the Spark, which only goes 80mi, but there are D.C. Fast chargers that will top it off in about 20 min.

It’s a great little coal powered car.

        • Albert Stienstra says:

Speed charging: 20kWh charge in 20 minutes -> 60kW charge current
5% charging loss -> your battery is subjected to 2.5 kW heat for 20 minutes. If I were you, I wouldn’t use speed chargers.

          • Chris w. says:

Fast chargers are used all the time, I think they are quite safe. If the concern is longevity of the battery, I’m unconcerned. The battery has a 7 year warranty, which I will never have to worry about. The dealer gets this one back after the three year super cheap lease is up.

Orville Dam/Lake, the-Tallest Dam in the good ole USA located in North East California is “about” to collapse with “only” 130,000 lives at stake ?

Fortunately, according to the current Biggest Idiot in the Country, California Governor Moon-Beam (He has many runners-up whom are also located in the Great State of California?!), “Global Warming” has already devastated California through drought, but oh, thats right, California is currently being flooded by, you guessed it, “Global Warming” rainfall, because it doesn’t matter which end of reality you see, DROUGHT = GLOBAL WARMING, AND… MASSIVE RAINFALL = GLOBAL WARMING (When it “Snows” in the Sahara (Or Death Valley if you wish), it’s still “Global Warming” ??????)

The “High” Sierra’s are packed with the most “Snow” in ruffly 12 years (Don’t worry, It-Doesn’t-Snow-in-California-anymore) and there is no end in sight !

Point being, Governor Moon-Beam was “correct”, because the “left” always “know” what is “right” ???

    Just ask Governor Moon-Beam !

Oh and, for an update, the [ 130,000 thousands ] has now been upgraded to 180,000, so know worries, all is well, everyone just go to sleep, and a “life” raft is recommended…

      John Christy:

“You can’t have a unfalsifiable hypothesis that says ‘whatever happens is consistent with my hypothesis.’ If it rains, that’s consistent with my hypothesis. If there’s drought, a flood, if it snows, if it’s cold, if there’s heat it’s consistent with my hypothesis. That’s a hypothesis that has no information for forecasting because it says anything can happen.” -John Christy

The above quote is part of 40 minute lecture by Christy at Williams College; first 19 minutes are a must see:

Btw, another thing you can’t have for a credible hypothesis is the centerpiece of your theory being *completely* repudiated by observations:

    • RAH says:

This ain’t over by a long shot! They’ve got a little break now but there’s more coming. The dam may not fail but it’s infrastructure already is. Both spillways damaged with an already over filled reservoir and more rain and snows coming and the traditionally highest flow yet to come during the melt. Nope, this ain’t near over.

As for Brown asking the “Nazi” Trump for help for a state that is defying federal laws and talking succession? You just couldn’t make this stuff up!

It would be too much for Trump to demand compliance with federal law as a condition for emergency help. But it sure is nice to contemplate the uproar and spittle that would fly if he did!

      • AndyG55 says:

I think I pointed out these seepages somewhere else.

If that area goes, at least it will save the main and emergency spillways.

      • AndyG55 says:

        Another view.

Notice that the water is coming from underneath the dark grey a not over the top. seeping through from the flooded car park.
That means it is finding channels for itself, and could eventually take out the whole of that darker grey mass.

      • Gail Combs says:

“…It would be too much for Trump to demand compliance with federal law as a condition for emergency help….”

WHY? We got stuck with 55 MPH speed limits because the US Federal Government threatened to with hold funds.

OR, Trump COULD place the entire state into a state of emergency/Martial law as a condition of getting the funds.

Martial law is the imposition of the highest-ranking military officer as the military governor or as the head of the government, thus removing all power from the previous executive, congressional, and judicial branches of government.[1] It is usually imposed temporarily when the government or civilian authorities fail to function effectively (e.g., maintain order and security, or provide essential services)…

Cornell Law School — Executive Power: An Overview

        …The president:

is the Commander in Chief of the armed forces. He or she has the power to call into service the state units of the National Guard, and in times of emergency may be given the power by Congress to manage national security or the economy….

        Executive Orders

In times of emergency, the president can override congress and issue executive orders with almost limitless power. Abraham Lincoln used an executive order in order to fight the Civil War, Woodrow Wilson issued one in order to arm the United States just before it entered World War I, and Franklin Roosevelt approved Japanese internment camps during World War II with an executive order. Many other executive orders are on file and could be enacted at any time.

Actually Gov. Moonbeam would be between the rock and the flood since the negotiation will be between him and President Trump

        42 U.S. Code § 5191 – Procedure for declaration

        (a) Request and declaration

All requests for a declaration by the President that an emergency exists shall be made by the Governor of the affected State. Such a request shall be based on a finding that the situation is of such severity and magnitude that effective response is beyond the capabilities of the State and the affected local governments and that Federal assistance is necessary. As a part of such request, and as a prerequisite to emergency assistance under this chapter, the Governor shall take appropriate action under State law and direct execution of the State’s emergency plan. The Governor shall furnish information describing the State and local efforts and resources which have been or will be used to alleviate the emergency, and will define the type and extent of Federal aid required. Based upon such Governor’s request, the President may declare that an emergency exists.

        (b) Certain emergencies involving Federal primary responsibility

The President may exercise any authority vested in him by section 5192 of this title or section 5193 of this title with respect to an emergency when he determines that an emergency exists for which the primary responsibility for response rests with the United States because the emergency involves a subject area for which, under the Constitution or laws of the United States, the United States exercises exclusive or preeminent responsibility and authority. In determining whether or not such an emergency exists, the President shall consult the Governor of any affected State, if practicable. The President’s determination may be made without regard to subsection (a) of this section…

As far as Mexico and illegals go….

        Mexico and Illegals…

Mexico Vow To Fight Trump By “Jamming US Courts” As Deportations Set To Surge

Mexico’s government recently allocated some $50 million to assist undocumented migrants facing deportation, and President Enrique Peña Nieto has instructed the country’s 50 consulates in the U.S. to defend migrants Luis Videgaray, the Mexican Foreign Relations Secretary, said that Mexico was “going to focus the money on one fundamental objective, which is the defense of the rights of Mexicans. This means legal advice, informational campaigns, the hiring of lawyers where it is necessary,”

Not a surprise given the 30 Million Illegal Immigrants in US who send $54 Billion in remittances out of the USA according to the GAO. Each of those dollars would normally circulate many times within the US economy and these illegals represent a massive economic threat to the USA. Not just from the jobs stolen and the lowering of wages through under the table competition but due to the Local Multiplier Effect the real curse from immigrants.

The Local Multiplier Effect (LME) is a very valuable, hidden feature of our economies. The term refers to how many times dollars are recirculated within a local economy before leaving through the purchase of an import.….

…a century ago, thriving industrial communities had a LME in the high 20s or low 30s. Today it’s estimated to be in the single digits. This reduction in the number of rounds that monies make has had an extremely negative effect on our local economies. All areas of community life are affected by this deficit. This lost treasure of local economies was never measured, monitored, managed or even acknowledged.

Besides the obvious poverty-related problems of unemployment, underemployment, homelessness, and lack of funds for social and public health needs, there is also the issue of creating an unhealthy reliance on a vast commercial network of imported goods….

Also President Trump can certainly have La Raza labelled as a TERRORIST group bend on stealing US territory. My comment on La Raza @ E.M. Smith’s with many links

Mexican Official Threatens To Combat President Trump By “Unleashing Drug Cartels”
“There will be war in the streets, or at least there could be.”

The law President Trump can invoke: 50 U.S. Code § 1701 – Unusual and extraordinary threat; declaration of national emergency; exercise of Presidential authorities

Any authority granted to the President by section 1702 of this title may be exercised to deal with any unusual and extraordinary threat, which has its source in whole or substantial part outside the United States, to the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States, if the President declares a national emergency with respect to such threat.
The authorities granted to the President by section 1702 of this title may only be exercised to deal with an unusual and extraordinary threat with respect to which a national emergency has been declared for purposes of this chapter and may not be exercised for any other purpose. Any exercise of such authorities to deal with any new threat shall be based on a new declaration of national emergency which must be with respect to such threat.

I do not think Mexico really really wants to go there.

  3. Ross says:

This unfortunate situation mirrors what happen with Wivenhoe dam near Brisbane, Australia a few years ago.( Incidentally the two dams/lakes are similar in size). In Australia they were days too slow to release the excess water so when did release it they couldn’t control the discharge ( they had no option but to just let it go full on, because of their delays). Result = loss of life and massive property loss and damage.
It appears there are similarities here –not starting to release water early enough and not looking forward enough with the weather forecasts. Unfortunately in the US case you have the imminent snow melt to contend in coming weeks/months , so if rain continues Governor Brown has a major issue.
I read where Brown has his hand out for Federal aid already for the state. At the same time the California legislature is pushing ahead to make the state a sanctuary state and the talk of ceding from the Union still seems to be simmering –hypocrites !!

Lol. No aid for California until Brown gets the illegals out of his state!

  6. The photo clearly shows that unregulated, calories-guzzling rowboats were the culprits back then. But getting back to the present, it will be an interesting test of looter principles to observe whether California politicians will throw all and sundry under the bus in a grab for the boodle and pelf.
