What Is Dr. Ruth’s Excuse This Year?

Dr. Ruth from DMI, the Greenland ice growth and image processing denier – blamed last year’s record autumn ice growth on Hurricane Nicole.

This year is looking like a repeat of last year, but no hurricane. What is Dr. Ruth’s excuse for ignoring data this autumn?

    The data is incorrect

I am going with they will blame it on Mt. Pinatubo to be consistent with why the sea level rise has slowed rather than accelerated per the models.

“Global mean sea level rise estimated from satellite altimetry provides a strong constraint on climate variability and change and is expected to accelerate as the rates of both ocean warming and cryospheric mass loss increase over time. In stark contrast to this expectation however, current altimeter products show the rate of sea level rise to have decreased from the first to second decades of the altimeter era. Here, a combined analysis of altimeter data and specially designed climate model simulations shows the 1991 eruption of Mt Pinatubo to likely have masked the acceleration that would have otherwise occurred.”

Ha! Griff and some others of her ilk are still denying that the Greenland ice sheet is gaining mass.

BTW has DMI ever quantified how much the SMB must grow for it to be “in balance”?

    • Cam says:

Well, they say the island calves about 500 bn tonnes of ice per year so I guess the mass increases if the gain is above that.

      • Rah says:

        Cam
It really is a pile of dung. It takes years for most of the snow to be compressed into the more concentrated mass of solid ice. The more snow that falls in a given area, the quicker the transition from old snow to fern to solid ice will occur for the old snow. Point being there is a cumulative effect when there are multiple years heavy snows.

  4. This is finally starting to sink in. Econazi vote counts have been dropping worldwide in inverse proportion to the accumulation of snow and ice on places like Greenland, and in direct proportion to the presentation here of unfaked data revealing falling temperatures. In New Zealand, Econazis are down 6 seats or a little over 6% this year. But in Econazi Germany, where every few months another unexploded bomb dropped on their National Socialist territory requires evacuations to disarm, Environmental Purity Greenies have recorded slight gains. Some folks are real slow learners.

The Russians are messing with the data.

They may even be making fake ice.

sarc on: “What you see here is simply the real component of a complex solution. The deniers don’t understand complex maths. If, and that is a big iff, things actually change, then the intelligent people will simply multiply by “i” and invert the solution, thereby being right all the time and ever so much smarter than the average denier”. sarc off

I had a nightmare, and this was it. :)

  7. Jimmy Haigh says:

Hurricane Nicole is obviously still having an effect…

  8. Robert B says:

Time for an improved product. It will back to anthropocene normal ie. OMG! Its worse than we thought, soon.

  9. Andy DC says:

It is amazing how much of the Greenland Ice Sheet melts with an average of 10 minutes above freezing there each year!
