Scientists Locate The “Last Arctic Ice”

Climate scientists have located the last ice in the Arctic, and say it is melting.

Arctic’s strongest sea ice breaks up for first time on record | World news | The Guardian

With the Arctic full of ice, they had to work pretty hard to find something to lie about.

Winds pushed the ice off shore north of Greenland.

The level of desperation and fraud among these people seems to know no bounds.

  1. R Shearer says:

The next to last ice looks pretty strong.

  2. AndyDC says:

If it is the “last ice”, how do they explain that Arctic sea ice is currently above the 10 year average for this date? They will simply say anything to make the situation seem as scary as possible. Fake news at its finest!

    • Andy says:

It’s not above 10 year average compared to Jaxa, it is on that line.

Which still means this was an average ice melt year.

      • spike55 says:

It is WELL ABOVE the 10,000 year average.

In the top 10% in fact, only just a bit down from the most extreme levels of sea ice in the whole of the current interglacial.

Why are you acting like a CLIMATE CHANGE DENIER, little-andy.

    • David A says:

Next year there will be zero 1st year ice, then the following year zero first and second year ice; and so on.

  3. Gator says:

The Onion has some real competition now.

    • arn says:

The onion is much much closer to reality:
You just need to read their ‘Interview’ with Noble Peace Prize Mass Murderer Heinz Kissinger about the NWO.

      • gregole says:

OK. That made my day! An actual accurate and courageous piece of journalism.

        • Colorado Wellington says:

They are the paper of record in climate journalism:

New Climate Change Report Just List Of Years Each Country Becomes Uninhabitable

GENEVA—Stating that the data published within its pages represented the scientific consensus of top researchers around the world, the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released its annual report this week, which consists solely of an alphabetized list of every country on earth and the years each of them will become uninhabitable.

“Cameroon, 2029; Canada, 2049… Japan, 2041… United States of America, 2033.”

When reached for comment, the committee expressed its hope that the report would be used by governments around the globe to help them make forward-thinking, evidence-based decisions about how and when to euthanize their populations.

  4. Lasse says:

It seams that it is a global scam.
It was on the news in Sweden the same day.
But we also was informed that the Captain of ice breaker “Oden” has seen ice at the North pole, more and thicker ice than before.

  5. arn says:

    Poor,poor russian ice breaker crews.
    All jobless now-overnight.

(but i do not understand why the hell russia built all those superhuge atomic driven ice breakers right now instead of some luxury cruise ships for people who want to see the iceberg cemetery formerly known as the arctic.
But maybe the reason is the very same as with the luxury beach mansions that get more and more expensive each year instead of being flooded- the massive rising sea levels
that never appeared as the arctic can disappear without a massivly melting away of the the sourrounding perma frost in Russia,Canada,Alaska,Iceland,Greenland-
those few millions of squaremiles should have a very very visible impact on sea levels.

    • MrGrimNasty says:

Instead of admitting that the west has let the Russians steal a march in the Arctic, as with control of EU gas supplies, Crimea, Syria, missile and weapons development etc. etc., the UK MSM was recently warning that the Russians are exploiting the Arctic ‘because climate change melty melty’.

I’ve now noticed a familiar pattern. None of the MSM mentions verified Russian propaganda/financing of things that libtards support – like anti-fracking protesters – but instead of admitting that diseases like measles are resurging in Europe because of mass immigration – they blame it on Russian bots spreading anti-vaccination propaganda and the silly indigenous population not getting their kids jabbed.

We live in truly bizarre times.

I think I posted this before, but anyway – Wadhams has crawled out from under an ice cube to make a berk of himself again.

      • arn says:

That article was a very well response to the BS.
Would not even thought that one would be willing to go thst deep to debunk BS.

  6. Robertv says:

The question of course should be why the wind blew for a long enough time from a direction which seems not to be the correct one for this time of the year.
But let us not forget that besides temperatures below 0, wind is an very important factor to create thick multi year ice.
First to compact the ice and second to create open water what then can freeze over producing more ice which can be compacted again by the wind etc.

  7. Phil. says:

Temperatures in Greenland are quite cold.

Although when that ice broke up off Kap Morris Jessup it was quite warm (peaked at 17ºC at 13:00 UTC on Aug 3rd.

    • Gator says:

Is the Arctic ice free yet Phil? Why are you not at the alarmist sites correcting the record? Or is that against the tenets of your religion?

    • tonyheller says:

One minute of downslope winds at one location certainly proves global warming is real.

      • arn says:

Well, one region where it gets slightly warmer is 100% proof of AGW
while 10 regions that got slightly colder at the same time
        prove nothing(nothing except climate change)

      • Phil. says:

What about 4 hours blowing from the WNW?

        • Caleb Shaw says:

The downslope winds off Greenland are like a Chinook, and can be surprisingly mild, and even above freezing.

Huge amounts of Atlantic moisture get lifted up over a ten thousand foot icecap. It is cooled as it rises, but latent heat is added to the air as water goes through the phase changes from gas to liquid and liquid to solid. The water is snowed out, and as the air decends it is warmer than it was, and drier. You can see it in the dead of winter. It isn’t so much a sign of Global Warming as it is of enormous amounts of snow left behind, adding to the icecap.

        • Disillusioned says:

well, that certainly proves AGW is real. .

    • spike55 says:

“Temperatures in Greenland are quite cold.”

And likely to stay that way…

  8. gregole says:

The evil M@nn-Made CO2 found the last strong ice in its Strong Ice Stronghold; and broke it up! Is there nothing M@nn-Made CO2 can’t do?

What if it finds out about the remaining millions of square km of Arctic Ice?

Scientists find this “scary”. But then again, according to the media, when it comes to climate, scientists are quite frequently, “stunned”, or “shocked”, or “alarmed” because the Arctic is “screaming”. Now they are “scared”. Methinks they need to take a deep breath, or a cold shower, or a chill-pill.

    • arn says:

No-they need new words and fear porn scenarios
as shocked, alarmed&stunned have been so overused that they ‘scare’ noone anymore as people got immune to the cry wolf scenario.

Maybe they can pull a massive seal dying scenario(i should try to get a patent for this before they try to use this idea)
      or something like that.

  9. Andy says:

It is unusual that this is open sea has appeared this year but I partially agree with Tony in that it was winds, but also warm ocean currents melting it rather than just general temperatures. The ice melt on the Atlantic side has been large due this year due to both, however in the greater scheme of things total ice extent this year after average weather is average of 2000’s ice melt according to JAXA so far

This area melting is good to comment on, but it is not a bellweather in the general scheme of things. East Siberian sea still has that huge tongue of ice into it. Interesting that always seems to be the case compared to Chuckchi and Laptev seas. Why?

  10. Rah says:

It’s going to turn unseasonably cold up there in about 10 days and the melt will end everywhere but in the minds of the delusional.

  11. Bart Tali says:

The claim that it has never been recorded before is false.

You can find images of open water on the north of Greenland here:

Locate the “TIME SERIES: 1979-2017” widget and play with it.

Some years to look at: 1985, 1988 and 1990.

For example, this is for 1990:

  12. M. Bannister says:

Not quite sure why you take issue with this. The concern comes from the DMI, ( who’s figures you seem to prefer) and the Norwegian ice service, who are pretty reliable so, if they are concerned, I think I might be.

    • Gator says:

Maybe because it is the rule, and not the exception.

Are you another of those New Earthers? We keep getting those people here, and they all act really concerned about some meaninglessness ice.

  13. Psalmon says:

The latest Arctic Cruise Ship/Research Trip has run aground. The Akademik Ioffe was part of the the NW Passage Project, but this time they did not even make it to the NW Passage due to ice and then ran aground where there was no ice in Summer.

    According to the group’s website:

“The journey into the Passage will commence in August of 2018 departing from Resolute Bay then traveling south and west to Cambridge Bay via Bellot Strait. The expedition will return to Lancaster Sound and Pond Inlet before traveling down the east side of Baffin Island.”

    • Phil. says:

Yeah, rather strange, left from Kugaarok instead of Resolute and ran aground on a rock on the first day! Not the first to do so in what is apparently a poorly mapped region.
