Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past
George Orwell
The Exxon Knew campaign is based on the idea that Exxon knew in the 1970s carbon dioxide would destroy the planet, yet they kept selling fossil fuels to Democrats who demand their product, and depend on fossil fuels for their day to day survival.
In order to enable the Exxon Knew scam, a complete rewrite of history was necessary.
global cooling which everyone seems to have forgotten was quite widely favoured in the mid-1970s.

the threat of a new ice age must now stand alongside nuclear war as a likely source of wholesale death and misery for mankind.

The present rate of the cooling seems fast enough to bring glacial temperatures in about a century.
History is not on the side of the Exxon Knew campaign, so they simply attempt to rewrite history. That is what leftists do, and have always done.

Great pictures in the Guardian today of unusual snow in South Africa

Exxon could not know in the 70ies that co2 is destroying eart/nature etc.
as at that time the global ice age was the ultimate truth.
+co2 was just a powerfall plant food(which it still is) and a very lousy climate gas(which it still is,but not officially)
without the amazing superpowers it is supposed to have since the 80ies.
The only superpower co2 has ,besides being the molecule of life,
is mocking and dumbing down climate scientists and deceives them to make wrong predictions.
CO2 does have a super power that you forgot. It also can put out fires, as in a fire extinguisher. Now if it can put out the Global Warming Fire.
That cover pic of Science News from 1975 gave me a flashback to 6th grade; I distinctly remember that issue. Our school had a subscription giving us copies to read each month in science class, and we brought in Time and Newsweek issues too that were warning of the inevitable ice age. Indeed there was a ginned up atmosphere of near panic in the nascent EPA and environmental movements, as I recall, with proposals to fix our pollution problems by collecting ash & soot from smokestacks, then sprinkle it over polar glaciers and ice sheets in an attempt to increase solar heat absorption of the planet. Global warming was desired at that point in time.
+1
My memories too – especially about how Science News was in all the classrooms. I was older by the time of the ice-age scare, but subscribed to Science News by then.
The GT/CO2 graph in the Scientific American is eye catching.
So some EXXON backroom boys on their lunch break, using slide rules, log tables and an abacus, determined what the weather would be fifty years hence but multi million dollar super computers of today have trouble predicting with next month?
Adding these to my list of The Guardian “global cooling” bookmarks.
