In 1894 the Times predicted:- “In 50 years, every street in London will be buried under nine feet of manure.”.

This global city problem know as the ‘Great Horse Manure Crisis’ required international action, and was debated in 1898 at the world’s first international urban planning conference in New York.

All smells very familiar. Like history repeating itself, ‘experts’ employing the same faulty logic and advocacy for urgent action to prevent doom.

The Great Horse Manure Crisis of 1894 is an internet myth invented by Stephen Davies of Fee dot org in Sep 2004. The Times is on record that they never published any “50 ft of manure” prediction, and they should know. Similarly, there is no record of a failed 1898 conference on NYC — no name, no date, no attendees, no proceedings.

You can prove this to yourself easily enough. The easiest check is to set your search engine “search by date” feature prior to Sep 2004 and you;ll see there are no hits (you get a couple of false hits from sites published prior to that date, but people commenting about the Crisis much later).

The next easiest check is to try to find the actual name, date, location, or publication from the alleged 1898 conference. Can’t be done. Archive dot org has the proceedings of the first American urban planning conference – National Conference on City Planning help on May 21-22, 1909 in Washington, DC – and the first British urban planning conference – Town Planning Conference, held from October 10-15, 1910 in London. The first mention of an 1898 conference is Sep 2004.

One of my ancestors got rich selling hay to UK horseowners around 1880 , one of his sons got rich buying oil-industry shares around 1920 . They both ignored the scare-stories popular in these years . If you want to become prosperous ignore the climate-scare . One thing is for sure the people believing this crap will stay poor forever .

Well at least so far this Holiday season I haven’t seen the alarmists trying to scare the kiddies with their annual claim that Santa is in danger because of a melting N. Pole.

Every idiot knows that rain and lack of rain are totally a result of climate change.

It’s getting pretty bad when even Governor Moonbeam is worried that Californian Democrats are getting too lefty.
