Global warming from near Boulder this morning is a balmy -13C. Cooling coming in tomorrow though and it’ll get up to 10C.

Dear Abby EarthTalk says global warming did it.

Why Global Warming Can Mean Harsher Winter Weather

“Why Global Warming Can Mean Harsher Winter Weather”

        More CAGW Apologetics.

After a few mild winters, they told us winters were going to be even milder – and that children wouldn’t know what snow is. Now after a few harsh winters, they have turned it on its head (but all caused by the same magical gas, of course).

These people aren’t scientists and do not care about the truth. They know the vast majority of politicians and their electorate are scientific morons without any long-term memory, and they prey off that. They are unscrupulous whores.

        • Colorado Wellington says:

No, no! CO2 is an omnipotent gas and it makes winters warmer or harsher to show us how powerful it is.

Why do you keep denying science? Why don’t you believe?

          • Disillusioned says:

But I wuz a believer. Along with Judith, Roger Jr. and others, I am now known as a ‘climate heretic.’

Heretics and apostates are more dangerous to the system than infidels.

    • Colorado Wellington says:

Boulder is clearly an urban heat island at -13°C. Less progressive areas around Boulder are closer to -17°C.

      • R Shearer says:

-23 reading looks suspicious. It’s kind of amazing that temperature can vary 10C within a couple of miles at the same time, but a less than 1C change over a hundred years is a catastrophe in the making.

        • Colorado Wellington says:

Yeah, the -23 weather station reading at Olde Stage Road is a single outlier that suggests a faulty thermometer.

I usually look at the map of surrounding stations and take the lower numbers as long as they are reported by several of them. Boulder still has a lot of poorly insulated homes and the higher reporting stations probably pick up heat from the houses they are mounted on.

          • R Shearer says:

I won’t be riding my bike up there today! :)

          • Colorado Wellington says:

            Excellent judgment! ?

          • rah says:

The station may have a bad sensor but such outliers are not always incorrect.
Shaded depressions where the cold air can settle and kind of lay stagnant can be significantly colder than the rest of the surroundings. This goes for any time of the year. In the mountains I have come across cold spots like that in that kind of terrain. One can immediately feel the difference when they drop down into the colder air.

      • R Shearer says:

Wilsons’ weather station off of Olde Stage Rd. has a bad sensor.

  2. Anon says:

That is only a single station, please grid your data and report it back as an anomaly.
Then at least climatologists can begin to use that as a starting point to determine the actual temperature. Thank you… (lol)

  3. Gerald Machnee says:

We need Griff here to explain how hot it is.

  4. lance says:

We have Leonardo weather here today…(aka Chinook)…but he thought it was GW!
