The Kinder, Gentler Climate Of 1287

15 Biggest and Worst Floods Ever in History – RankRed

Imagine how much worse the 18 foot storm surge would have been with an extra 0.0001 mole fraction CO2 in the atmosphere!

If only the Dutch had used windmills, this tragedy could have been prevented.

The Dutch have suffered from many horrific North Sea Floods.

Of course you don’t mention that serious storm surges are now happening as a result of climate change in the N Sea – or that years of flood defences and in particular barrier gates like the Thames barrier are reducing (for now) the impacts.

    Here’s the 2013 storm details.

      That’s called “weather” Ms Griff.

Why do you hate poor brown people?

Perhaps one day you will stop using political terms to describe weather.

Yea Griff, everyone knows the N. Atlantic was never stormy during the fall and winter before. LOL

    • Robertv says:

12,000 years ago they had no problems at all, no sea anywhere near London or the Netherlands. Those were the days. Just ask the scandinavians.

    • tonyheller says:

Why didn’t they build an 18 foot high barrier in 1287?

I wonder what “the modification of the tide–surge–wave signal by inshore bathymetry” means?
I’ve sailed (on board a Danish ‘dampskip’) down the excellent stretch of manmade inshore bathymetry that leads from the North Sea to Harwich and Felixstowe
( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Port_of_Felixstowe ) and marvelled at how many other ships were plying along it – some of them extremely large.
“The main navigation channel is dredged to 14.5 metres below chart datum” But I’m sure this minor detail of ‘inshore bathymetry’ hasn’t changed a bit since 1953.

      Wiki is your enema, griff..

Why do you INSIST on being such a moronically ignorant fool. !!

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1928_Thames_flood

“The sudden rise in water level coincided with a high spring tide and a storm surge caused by a major extratropical cyclone in the North Sea. ”

      In 1928, griffool.. !!
