In this year of action, the President will seek out as many opportunities as possible to work with Congress in a bipartisan way. But when American jobs and livelihoods depend on getting something done, he will not wait for Congress.
President Obama has a pen and he has a phone, and he will use them to take executive action and enlist every American — business owners and workers, mayors and state legislators, young people, veterans, and folks in communities from across the country — in the project to restore opportunity for all.

An equally big problem is Boehner, who is giving Obama cover and support in his coup.
Steve, something that I’ve come to realize is that the only branch of government which has any real muscle (i.e. guns) is the executive. Boehner has no muscle to use even if he wanted to.
Consider the number of members of the executive that just ignore Congress’s subpeonas or commit purgery etc. How can Boehner force the EPA to give them the subpeoned documents? How can they punish IRS for what they did to the tea party ?
It occurs to me that our government has worked so far due to the good will for the nation that the people in power have towards it. Holder is in contempt of congress right now. But the adminstration won’t do anything about it. They care more about power then the country.
Remember someone hung a Mau Christmas ball on one of the WH Christmas trees the first year Zero was in the WH. What does that tell you?
House controls the money. Boehner could shut Obama down any time he wanted to.
Steve, defunding the government would be playing into Zero’s hand.
It would give him an excuse to declare a constitutional crisis or some such thing and declare martial law. Remember they now have a switch on the internet and the cable TV system. Turn them off and well, resistance will be difficult.
Pass a budget. Cut the EPA budget in half. Cut the IRS budget in half. People would cheer.
Steve, the budget has to go through Harry Reid. He’s already proved he doesn’t feel obligated to pass budgets. Even if we take the Senate in 2014, it still has to get past Zero. If he vetoes the odds of getting a 2/3 vote in the Senate is nill.
Don’t get me wrong, I’d likely be cheering the loudest at cutting these budgets, but there is a reality here. The dems have no conscience. Just consider Schumer’s remarks recently about the Tea Party and the IRS.
It is a matter of marketing. They let Obama seize the communications initiative. Boehner et al are completely incompetent at communicating, or even thinking rationally.
Steve, with all due respect, the communications initiative has been owned by the dems for 20 to 30 years.
Simple example – Chris Christie coverage of “bridgegate” tons of air time.
Coverage of Benghazi, not so much. In fact barely any.
We can’t rely on the media to present our case. Boehner knows this.
Republicans put incoherent people in front of the press, and the press doesn’t listen to them.
