Greenland Prime Minister Expects Global-Warming Mining Riches – Businessweek
Not sure about a world crisis but this certainly spells disaster for the Greenland Country Club.
Rather it is because the price of metals is on the rise?
Due in part to putting Govt property off limits and EPA regs.
Commodities market reacts to news about EPA “thinking about it.” With good reason, I might add
Greenland Prime Minister Expects Global-Warming Mining Riches
I hope the prime minister is forthright enough to mention that this might take a thousand years or so, if climactic history is any guide.
It might be wise for our Greenland friends to avoid taking out credit cards to buy new cars and flat screen TV’s just yet
All the mining areas highlighted are where the ice cap does not exist. What the mining has to do with the icecap appears to be a non-issue.
Their biggest issue is transport
I’d be willing to bet that Al Gore will not be investing in this.
I’ll bet that Owl Gore offers Greenland the use of his private jet to haul the mined Zink ore out of the far North of Greenland and back to his Tennessee Zink mine. In Gore’s Kool-Aid addled brain he sees it as environmental remediation.
Zinc. In English.
I would more likely believe that Afghanistan is the last great repository of un-mined riches.
As an indicator of how well you have been brain washed about Afghanistan, the Afghanis have no serious interest in extracting their mineral riches because as long as there is the semblance of an ‘Afghan’ government, the tribe under whose turf the minerals reside are afraid that they will have to share their wealth with other Afghanis who do not belong to their tribe.
Tribalism in my opinion is the reason the Taliban was pursuing genocide in Balochistan before the World Trade Center Bombing. A large fraction of the ‘Afghan’ mineral wealth is located in Balochistan.
The asteroids will be mined before Afghanistan.
Wonder if the disaster will be as great as when the Vikings dug there.
Why not just mine under the ice?
I thought Afghanistan had $1 trillion mining potential in rare earths and other minerals.
This is an overlooked national security interest we have there. We move out, China moves in and further cements their near-monopoly.
