Let’s Do The Math

Burning natural gas produces half as much CO2 as coal.

The US has about 500 coal fired power plants. If Obama shut them all down, and they were replaced by gas power plants, that would reduce the amount of CO2 generated by about 250 power plants.

The rest of the world has 1,200 new coal fired plants in the planning or building stages, meaning that our 250 plant reduction would be overwhelmed by the all new coal plants being built elsewhere.

So at massive cost we could accomplish almost nothing wrt CO2, while adding more of the super evil greenhouse gas CH4 to the atmosphere.

Logic, facts and truth are utterly wasted on alarmists and their sociopathic masters. Only spin, fabrications and lies will get their attention. They truly live in another dimension.

    • Gail Combs says:

No they do not live in another dimension they are just power hungry meglomaniacs and sociopaths that do not give a S…t if they kill people. This should sound very familiar since we are seeing it happening in the USA today.

Russell described how he saw the communist tradecraft:

The way they worked their way to the seizure of power was as follows:
Talk about peace, talk about social equality, especially among those most oppressed. Talk about organization of labor, and penetrate into every labor union. Talk on soapboxes. Publish pamphlets and papers. Orate and harangue. Play on envy. Arouse jealousy. Separate class from class. Try to break down the democratic processes from within. Accustom the people to picketing, strikes, mass meetings. Constantly attack the leaders in every way possible so that the people will lose confidence. Then in time of national peril, during a war, on the occasion of a great disaster, or of a general strike, walk into the capital and seize the power. A well-organized minority can work wonders.

Russell’s spot-on understanding of how the communists worked, based on his own on-location observations in Russia during the revolution…

And this is the type of “leader” you end up with:

      Tom West described Stalin’s outlook:

Only one man, the wisest and strongest of all, can be entrusted with the task of building socialism. And this man must not flinch from inflicting mass killings, deliberate famines, and torture involving the suffering and deaths of many millions of people. The Wise Man must employ whatever means he deems necessary to root out the millions of enemies of the people so that he can lead men to perpetual peace, happiness, and total communization.

The beautiful theories of Marx, Engels, and Lenin were now become flesh—the flesh was Josef Stalin. The requirement for communist leaders to force, coerce, bully, murder, maim, torture, kill, starve, imprison, shoot, destroy, exploit, and otherwise dehumanize its subjects, all for the greater common good, was demonstrated for all the world to see during the reign of Stalin….

The Fabian Socialists want to grab power through a long slow process. They are the ‘elite’ and dont want to kill off the serfs or wreck the wealth producing infrastructure. The Communists just want power and do not care how they grab it, what they wreck or who they kill. They are all for bloody revolutions where they can walk in and seize power.

Either way the general population ends up as serfs/slaves.

Yes, but you forgot about all those evil Midwest gun and religion clingers that Obama is determined to stick it too.

  3. tom0mason says:

Is that math or is it arythmetic, err…arithmatics, umm… sums?

  4. HankH says:

The problem is math is too complicated for them. They only know how to do arithmetic. Here, Ed Markey explains the problem:

  5. Truthseeker says:

An infinite number of mathmeticians walk into a bar.

The first one orders a beer. The second one orders half a beer. The third one orders a quarter of a beer. The fourth one steps up and the barman interrupts him …

The barman says “You are all idiots” and pours two beers.

  6. Snedly Arkus says:

Good luck with those gas plants. The Sierra Club has gone on record that they will oppose gas plants too. In their twisted logic they claim gas plants are as bad or worse than coal. Wonder if there is a government plan in the offing for insulating the caves we’ll all be living in.

    • -=NikFromNYC=- says:

Berkeley physicist Muller way back in the 1980s quit the Sierra Club due to their lack of appreciation of low-emissions nuclear power. Then he played the Koch brothers for fools by throwing Mr. Hockey Stick under the bus and replacing his amateur hour work with a shiny new black box.

  7. -=NikFromNYC=- says:

    But!

    “We shall overcome.”
    “We shall overcome.”
    “We shall overcome.”

  9. Phil Jones says:

True…. This only raises the price of electricity … Making America less competitive.

Cheap energy is the foundation for a strong economy… All the rules, regulations, legalisms and bullshit Progressives throw out there make new cheap energy impossible…

    • Gail Combs says:

      Yes.

You have a choice, cheap energy or slave labor.

It wasn’t president Lincoln who freed the slaves it was James Watt. The Progressives want serfdom reinstated.
