“As a climate scientist thinking about this, it struck me that it was not surprising since accounts of the scientific basics of global warming almost never appear anywhere in the press.”

Heh, maybe because there are no actual real “scientific basics” for AGW. Just models and theory.

  2. Latitude says:

More proof out just how out of it climate scientists really are………….

  3. Dave N says:

I think he’s right.. the basics aren’t reported much in the media; most of it is non-scientific sensationalism.

    • From Hansen, the head climatologist.

    • Tony Duncan says:

      the quote I like is
” whereas sceptics point to the four-billion-year-old global climate record that shows runaway global cooling or warming has never occurred because negative feedbacks regulate the global climate system.”
Mike will be surprised to learn that there have never been any ice ages or extremely hot periods in earths past.
Also that he says that that tiny minuscule trace gas can increase tempt by 1°C all by itself without any forcing.
But maybe he is right, and everyone on this site agrees with that. Certainly Lindzen, Spencer and Michaels do.

    News just in.

    4 January 2010

“After spiking upward in response to Copenhagen talks and the ‘climategate’ uproar, media coverage of climate change plummeted to levels last seen in 2005, according to DailyClimate.org’s archives and other media databases”

Met Office knew big freeze was coming but hushed it up

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1343863/Met-Office-knew-Decembers-big-freeze-coming-hushed-up.html

Last October, when the UK Met office was predicting a mild winter, they knew they were lying to the public, in order not to undermine the COP 16 conference in Cancun with acknowledgment of the brutal winter to come.

Interesting fact: the Chairman of the Met Office board, Robert Napier, is or has been:

    * Chairman of the Green Fiscal Trust*

    * Chairman of the trustees of the World Centre of Monitoring of Conservation

    * a director of the Carbon Disclosure Project

    * a director of the Carbon Group

    * Chief executive of the World Wildlife Fund UK

He is also a member of the Green Alliance.

Has anybody read the article. I just did and this guy is actually saying something of merit. He is not saying we are all going to fry , he is injecting a little common sense, a sciencetist actually saying we do not know and hold on before we spend billions on this.

  7. Amino Acids in Meteorites says:

    This was a nice article.

There is an easy to understand explanation by Reginald Newell about feedback from increased co2. What is talked about in this video is being overlooked in the media.

  8. Andy Weiss says:

The science is badly flawed, thus the press doesn’t want to talk about that aspect. They just want to spew propaganda, not science.

  9. grayman says:

No Andy , a journalist inserting press releases instead of actually looking at and investigating the story , OK yes propaganda. What will they think of next, stay tuned for more action news. The crap they come up with boggles the mind!
