Polar bears are a global symbol of the threat posed by climate change but, at the same time, many observers say there are more of them roaming around than there were 30 years ago.
“The population is booming,” says Willy Aglukkaq, a guide and outfitter in the Inuit community of Gjoa Haven, who is seeing plenty of bears in the central Arctic.
You guys know how much I don’t like poley bears….
…I say kill them all and leave the seals alone
Seals are cute………
Kate had this on her blog this morning,
Who Are the Real Hijackers of Islam?
For years, we’ve heard how the peaceful religion of Islam has been hijacked by extremists.
What if it’s the other way around? Worse, what if the peaceful hijackers are losing their bid to take over the religion?

Latitude – this is insane on three counts. First of all, there’s hardly ever been a link between Polar Bears and Islam. Secondly, if we start finger-pointing at religion-based violence (and assassinations), nobody can claim innocence. Thirdly (and most importantly) there is enough complexities in the ethnical and political situation in Pakistan, not to warrant myopic analyses done from very much afar.
Going back to the booming Polar Bears population, it’ll only make it easier for EPA to declare them gravely endangered as soon as the numbers go down to normal.
om, I did comment on poley bears, I hate them.
I did not comment on the link to Kate’s blog, but thank you for your analysis of it.
“First of all, there’s hardly ever been a link between Polar Bears and Islam.”
Hardly ever?!!?
Don’t Hate the Poley Bears….. At least not because of their color.
Hate them because they’ve turned back to their radical religion.
The seals don’t have a chance.
..and the government of Greenland have just increased the quota in EastGreenland – http://goo.gl/ZF5ln §.-)
In the context of AGW, what an unfortunate last name she has.
I’d just reword it a bit.
Here;
” More polar bears in eastern Greenland
Prof Hansen raises polar bear quota in Ammassalik and Ittoqqortoormiit“
You have to wonder how polar bears survived the ice free Arctic ocean during some of the Holocene summers.
