On April 21, 1980, Ada, Minnesota recorded 100F, which some people blamed on particulates from Mt. St Helens.

The volcano blew its top on May 18, 1980 and a few weeks later Dallas, Texas had (by far) their worst heatwave on record.

    in April of 1980, I was living in northern Minnesota at roughly the same latitude as Ada Minnesota. I have no recollection of a hot day or record heat. I guess I should feel lucky I survived the 100° heat of that day. what I do recall of April 1980 was sky high interest rates on mortgages. if you got a loan at 9% you were lucky

      I purchased a home in the DFW area August ’80 -30 yr VA Mtg at 11%. One could break an ankle in the cracks in the arid yard. The only vegetation was clumps of dallis grass. Recalling it, I don’t remember anyone connecting Mt St Helens to the 1980 heat and drought, but everyone connected Mt Pinatubo to mid 1990s weather.

    Pele, the Hawaiian godDESS of volcanoes, presumably controls all volcanoes around & within the Pacific Ocean. So, the warming triggered by Mt. St. Helens (also FEMALE) should be blamed on WOEmen, not men;-}

      You’re onto something there dm – if we go all hippy trippy, noble savage, Polynesian / Maori scienterrific mythological, the Sky Father is male and the Earth Mother is (usually) female, therefore, as you say: Womb/Woeman-Made Climate Calamity due to out-gassing and lava! lava! Hot Lava.

      There could be research money in this hypothesis; I’ve always wanted to visit the Sandwich Islands of Aloha. Who do we apply to now Mr. T. has turned off the Happy Hour endless money machine? Just Say Pele!

    Tony Heller…call your Congresswoman and get her to get you in front of Trump and Congress. That would put all of this AGW crap to rest. Yes there will still be morons like Mann but we need to stomp on it and YOU are the BEST to do that Sir.

  4. Ulric Lyons says:

    England had its third hottest July in over 360 years in 1876, while engulfed in dust and fumes from the Laki eruption in Iceland.

    Volcanoes often erupt on a warm burst following a very cold winter period.
