Zero Credibility

When Time Magazine makes claims like the 1970s Ice Age or the current claim that tornadoes are caused by CO2, why don’t climate scientists go to the press with strong statements of disagreement? Obviously Hansen can get access to the press anytime he wants to.

Climate scientists say now that they never agreed with the ice age scare, but we see no evidence that they attempted to clear the air in 1975. We see little evidence that they are trying to clear up the endless stream of disaster stories currently coming from Romm and the press.

The only logical conclusion is that they are perfectly happy to let the disaster stories stand.

Yep, it is a consistent strategy. Its called plausible deniability.

Steve suggests CO2 isn’t the cause of heat on Venus and we have “scientists” come out of the woodwork to attack the supposition.

When Time does a CO2= tornadoes, nothing but crickets chirping. There can be no doubt that alarmism is ideologically driven. Climatologists don’t give a rat’s ass about truth or discovery. They care about their gravy train and ideology.

I believe, unfortunately, that you are most certainly correct… I have seen some areas of science take the biggest of plunges into this bottomless abys during the past few decades … a shame .. a crying shame …

They won’t achieve fame and/or fortune by saying there is no catastrophe on the horizon.

  3. Squidly says:

Would not a cooler climate be more likely to produce tornado’s? .. seems to me that greater temperature differentials would exist if our planet were a few degrees cooler, which would create a greater lapse rate differential, and thus, more potential for tornado’s, and stronger ones too. Doesn’t the data exhibit exactly this?

Wow. I guess C02 needs to RISE to prevent tornados

  5. Andy Weiss says:

The Gulf of Mexico water temperatures may be important for tornadoes, because that is the source region for warm, humid air that feeds them.

The 1974 tornado “Superoutbreak” happened after the South had a very mild winter and early spring, thus the Gulf water temperatures were probably above normal.

    • Mike Davis says:

It is the COLD fronts dropping South that create the conditions for tornadoes. In a warmer environment there would be less storms as the Arctic Jet would be restricted to the Arctic region.

“Climate scientists say now that they never agreed with the ice age scare..”

..and alarmists have the gall to label skeptics as “deniers”? Hahahaha..

I wonder if the likes of Schneider and Rasool ever denied they predicted an oncoming ice age?

  7. Mike Davis says:

Hansen wrote the model for NASA used to predict the coming Ice Age!

You never see Tony D piping up about any of the ludicrous claims that are thrown out there by the AGW crowd either.

  10. In some ways I find it annoying that prominent scientists do not speak out against a lot of the rubbish that is published in the press but at the same time I understand that these scientists would probably spent their lives firefighting and less time being scientists. The media perhaps have a little too much power and influence which is another reason why people do not speak out against them.
