Even The LA Times Gets It

Osama bin Laden dead: Yes, SEALs were in on the raid, but aides hail Obama’s office bravery.

According to another one of those White House briefings of reporters designed to suck up all available credit for good news, President Obama’s homeland security advisor reveals that it was a really tense time in the air-conditioned White House as unidentified U.S. Navy SEALs closed in on the world’s most wanted man after midnight a half a world away.

“Minutes passed like days,” says John Brennan, who bravely stood with press secretary Jay Carney before reporters and TV cameras today chronicling his boss’ weekend heroics.

The heavily-armed commandos flying in a quartet of darkened Blackhawk and Chinook helicopters more than 100 miles into Pakistan were probably listening to their iPods and discussing the NFL draft.

“The concern was that bin Laden would oppose any type of capture operation,” said Obama’s Sherlock Holmes. So U.S. troops were prepared “for all contingencies.”

In fact, this weekend was such a tense time in the White House that Obama only got in nine holes of golf. But he still managed to deliver his joke script to the White House Correspondents Assn. dinner Saturday evening.

Sunday was, Brennan revealed to his eager audience, “probably one of the most anxiety-filled periods of times in the lives of the people assembled here.” Poor poor bureaucrats. Extra Tums all around. Did someone order dinner?

I’ve never gave props to the LA times in my memory. They are spot on, on this one. According to the press releases, Barry did everything but pull the trigger. In reality, from left coast to east coast and flyover country in between, we know, he was kept abreast of the situation, stayed engaged, and said, “OK”.

For me, I feel good about it for two reasons, one and first, that SOB got sent to hell. As Lat alluded to earlier, that bastard that praised the martyrdom of others, resorted in using females as a shield, if it wasn’t him, it was one of his pathetic cronies. Either way, it is plain to see his legacy……. a worthless worm, spewing nothing but hate. The worm still lives, but it is still worthless.

Dang, the other part of why I feel good about it………. It showed, the U.S. will, regardless of time, destroy the person that wishes to destroy our people. Time made it sweeter! From George Bush to Barrack Obama, and especially the Intel guys and the military guys……… damn good deal.

Just the thought of all the hazards those in the White House faced during that tense time. Imagine someone might have got a paper cut or twisted their ankle! Either of which would have required intensive care.

What is wrong in US intelligence gathering that he could have been in one place for 6 years?! And how many people thought he was dead? I get the impression America is a lazy country.

The hastiness by which the administration disposed of OBL’s body is going to haunt us forever.

They could have said that they disposed of it, and then waited for the Arab street to begin their typical DENIALS then sprung the physical proof on them.

    Yawn.

I think Obama has provided great insight into who and what he really is during this episode and taking all the credit and reaping all the reward. Obama, in essence a CEO of America, is doing exactly what many ruthless CEOs do by taking credit and profiting from someone elses work. It shows at Obama’s core he is truely a capitalist who thrives on self-interest and seeks reward even when he has done little to none of the work. This explains why he became so close to someone like Jeffery Immelt another ruthless CEO.

    • Dan says:

He praised the team that went in and the entire group that has been working on this for some time. As president, it was his call to do this as a special ops jobs and not a drone attack. His judgement was vindicated. Even el Rushbo has praised his judgement. No one is taking anything away from the special ops group that did their job magnificently.

      • If he had an ounce of brains, he would have completely avoided referring to himself and told his staff to do likewise. He needs to quit acting like a troubled teenager and start acting like an adult.

El Rushbo is praising him for continuing the Bush protocols that led to this operation, the ones that Obama campaigned against. You might want to read the transcript.

It took a couple of years under Obama to undo the Bush incompetence and get the job done.

is this Dan-i? Anyway, if you actually read any of the information (albeit the story changes by the minute), you would know that Obama used the information FROM BUSH, FROM GITMO (which he wanted to shut down), FROM WATERBOARDING (which some claim is worthless) to get Osama. So your fairy tale about “undoing” is just an infantile whining since without Bush, there would be no story. Alas, the facts are a harsh mistress that even “I-OBAMA” cannot change.

    • Dan says:

There has been no credible report that any information obtained from waterboarding was valuable or used. Shutting down GITMO has nothing to do with interrogation. Bush dropped the ball on Afghanistan and focused on Iraq. Obama’s election pledge was to refocus our efforts on Afghanistan and get bin Laden. He does what he says.

      • PhilJourdan says:

No credible information? I guess then there is no credible information that Osama was killed either. I guess then that when Obama whacked the general’s request for troops – that was his “commitment”. I guess when the Nato troops drove the taliban into the hills of Pakistan that was loss of focus. I guess in your world, Dan-i, Obama can do no wrong. Mighty simple world you live in.

So what is the story on Gitmo? Still a Country club where korans are free and poppies grow on the parade grounds? Is that why Obama PROMISED to close it? And where no credible information about the now non-credible killing of Osama came from?

      • Dan says:

Obama promised to close Gitmo for sound judicial and military reasons. Detailed information on Gitmo interrogation is unavailable in the open press, but there are a lot of stories if you want to believe. I’m not sure what troop levels you are talking about, but Obama has increased several fold the levels in Afghanistan.

      • PhilJourdan says:

He Promised! for what reasons? Oh, yea, for the very reasons we never caught and killed Osama! Yea, that’s the ticket!

That would make larry the liar proud!

As for the troop levels, why don’t you do your homework before making grand statements with no basis in fact?
