Monterey Bay climate change summit fights global warming

SANTA CRUZ — Local elected, environmental and business leaders met Friday to discuss how the Central Coast can tackle climate change, refining an effort that began in 2007 and striving to make the region a leader in preventing global warming.

Held at the headquarters of Ecology Action in Santa Cruz, the Monterey Bay Climate Action Summit included academics, leaders of local nonprofits and policymakers.

The effort is based on the belief that the region is well-positioned to confront the problem, not only because of the Monterey Bay’s pro-environmental politics, but also because of homegrown scientific expertise and ready access to the capital need to tackle complex environmental problems.

what’s the definition of “environmental leader”?

California is getting some very unusual June rain. San Francisco only averages .15 inches of rain in June and they have already had close to an inch already. Some places along the central California coast have had 2 inches.

These multitude of unusual storms have been coming off the Pacific at low latitudes for this time of year and encountering sharp temperature boundaries in the Central US, hense all the tornadoes and floods. You would not think that having the jet stream well south of normal would be consistent with global warming.

I’m in my Barccalounger with a cold beer and I think I too am very well-positioned to confront warming. I doubt Monterey knows jack-cheese about being well-positioned compared to me.

Monterey also shows no sea level rise for 30 years:

There is also no acceleration in global sea level rise according to the updated Church and White paper as long as you ignore their statistical manipulations and corrections and just extract their simple average of tide gauges, like I’ve done here:

The ClimateSanity site exposes the Team’s sea level expert, a main contributor to RealClimate. It’s another case of Mannian machinations! At first I became discouraged, reading it. They achieve an exponential curve for sea level despite that not existing in the input data. They get it by applying a “correction” based on water reservoirs on land while ignoring the pumping of groundwater to the surface! So the actual sea level isn’t good enough, you see! The mind boggles.
