I’m pretty sure we had ATMs under Bush when unemployment was below 5%
“There are some structural issues with our economy where a lot of businesses have learned to become much more efficient with a lot fewer workers,” lectured Obama in an interview with NBC’s Ann Curry. “You see it when you go to a bank and you use an ATM, you don’t go to a bank teller, or you go to the airport and you’re using a kiosk instead of checking in at the gate.”

O’gansta could give everyone a spoon, and hire them to dig in the bone dry lakebed of Powell to look for the water that will never come back. Full Bennies and a bloated Pension. I’m surprised he hasn’t announced it already.
I think that would qualify as shovel ready…………
..and he’s already said, with a laugh and smirk on his face, that they weren’t as ready as he thought
Dang! If we just weren’t so efficient, we could have more employment.
Obama’s model for the future is Cambodia, North Korea, maybe Chad. Those folks know how to reduce their carbon footprints!
Obama himself said the economy could make him a one-and-out President:

He should blame self service gas stations for eliminating jobs even though that also happened long before he was president. Hey why not, if people are dumb enough to buy the ATM nonsense they’ll believe anything.
They do that in NJ and Oregon (and do not allow them).
Obama has no clue on economics and employment, among myriad other things.
He has gotten pretty good at finding golf courses though.
Yes, and he’s an accomplished teleprompter reader apparently.
Teleprompt this Obama!
Shoulda been better at making birth certificate though.
The genius of Obama is that when he speaks, he sounds eminently reasonable to the average (severely uninformed) person. Gee, he’s such a great/nice guy, wants to help us, yadda yadda yadda. Being uninformed and possibly already inducted into the cult of personality that is Obama, they don’t give it a second thought that (1) he doesn’t do what he says a lot of the time; and (2) the actual things he does harm more people than they help.
So who supports Obama more than any other group? People aged 18-24. This is the same agegroup that suffers from record unemployment due to Obama’s doofus economic policies!
He’s good at appointing Communists, or those with clear ties to Communist organizations, too:
Leon Panetta……… ties to a pro-Marxist think tank accused of anti-CIA activity……. voting record for Panetta, a member of Congress from 1977 to 1993, during the period in question shows an apparent affinity for IPS’s agenda…… Panetta was reportedly on IPS’s official 20th Anniversary Committee, celebrated April 5, 1983, at a time when the group was closely aligned with the Soviet Union……Along with serving on the IPS committee, Panetta supported the IPS’s “Coalition for a New Foreign and Military Policy Line” in 1983…… in the 1980s Panetta commissioned the IPS to produce an “alternative” budget that dramatically cut defense spending……..Panetta supported the Soviet satellite government of Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua and was a vocal opponent of Chile’s anti-communist government…….

People aged 18-24.
That’s the age when we think we know everything. But with the economy continuing to go down a dark hill everyone’s eyes, including that age group’s eyes, will be opened to the failure that is the redistribution of wealth. It is true that the economy was in bad shape when Obama took over. But his socialist approach has exacerbated the situation. I think that by the end of 2012 the economy is going to be in far worse shape than when Obama took over.
Hope and Change.
As automation and cheap foreign labor have taken away millions of jobs, it is an open question as to whether the “free market” can sustain anything close to full employment wthout the Government intervening in some fashion.
I say we dig up henry Ford, and crucify him for creating the Assembly line! He is the root cause of it, and of course it JUST happened in the last 2 years.
