Having surrendered its electoral capital through punting a sitting prime minister, with all the complications that involved, the new leader leapt on the perverse idea of bringing in a new “tax” as her central reform and after expressly promising not to. This counter-intuitive play relied on the flawed prediction that the reaction to the backflip would be severe but shallow and would soon give way to a focus on the substance of the reform. Ms Gillard, it was further wagered, would also get a dividend for actually getting something done – in contrast to Kevin Rudd.
Disrupting the Borg is expensive and time consuming!

It is indeed sad to see the adventerous and innovative spirit that used to prevail in Australia perverted by the idiot sons and daughters of the men and women who prevailed to make their homes there.
Julia is actually from Wales
….but Hawaii has a birth certificate for her…
Good one.
“This counter-intuitive play relied on the flawed prediction that the reaction to the backflip would be severe but shallow and would soon give way to a focus on the substance of the reform.”
Sounds a lot like Obamacare. That the substance of the reform sucks doesn’t help.
Maybe Australia can sentence her to deportation and dump her back to her native Wales.
Is this where Obama got the name for his composite cradle-to-grave nanny-state supported socialist Julia?
Let’s not forget the real culprits here are the so-called ‘scientists’ who perpetrated the ‘Big Lie’/s of AGW and ENSO/La Nina. The ignorant general public and their politicians (who reflect them) have no real choice but to have faith in what scientists tell them. The Steffens and Flannerys and Hansens rely on this ‘collective ignorance’ to peddle their ‘snake oil’ and line their pockets, never having to account for themselves with any empirical evidence as long as they can get away with perpetuating the ‘Lie’ by any sleight-of-hand or manufactured confusion no matter how incredible.
Unfortunately for these charlatans, Nature doesn’t acknowledge their ‘right to exist’ and will freeze their arses with the rest of us.
Julia’s main flaw is that she is not very bright–average intelligence at best. If she worked for me as an employee she might do well in an administrative role doing complex repetitive work, but is hardly qualified to run a nation. Her tragic flaw is not that she is out of her depth, but that she has a vindictive streak. When she has been defeated, she will still not compromise, but rather stick to her guns and dig herself into a deeper hole. Successful politicians tend to be somewhat more ‘flexible’ in their convictions. As a consequence I suspect she will go down as the worst prime minister in Australian history.
