Remembering The Terror Of Irene As She Hit Manhattan

The horror! The horror!!
So what was the damage in NY again? I’m sure the cost of clothing replacement must have soared into 6 digits at least.
More fright-mongering by the health-Nazi and Gauleiter mayor of New York. Irene was a mild storm, much less worse than many of the winter storms that hit the city.
I can see the headline already: Body surfing in the streets!
I remember that it cost $19 billion ($15.6 billion in the US) and killed 56 people.
Tropical storm Irene dropped several inches of rain on already saturated ground and caused widespread flooding.
So? This post is an affront and disrespects the people who lost family and friends last year. How low can this blog go? Can we expect 9/11 to be celebrated by pictures of smiling children playing with model aircraft in Central Park?
What douche thing to say.
“What douche thing to say.”
And showing people playing in the water after 56 people were killed is OK? What a hypocrite!
I think “Lazarus” is trying to show he cares. It’s kinda touching from someone who last got laid by a stuffed animal.
Stark Dickflüssig,
I know it must be difficult for you to comprehend, but I do care about people making light when others have faced a tragedy. Some people do care, though clearly none that you associate with.
A million people die in cars every year. Adverts glamourizing cars need to be banned.
Now you are just trying to use ridicule to cover your callous nature.
Good thing that they shut down Manhattan. The weather was lethal.
I got a flat tire in 1992, & it cost $25 to repair. I got a flat tire in 2010, & it cost $85 to repair. I guess global warming made flat tires worse.
The irony in all this is 94L is sitting in almost the exact same spot as Irene only a year ago (although further east.) If this passes north of the Greater Antillies it will likely affect the east coast. You thought the hysteria was bad in Irene, if this system becomes a major, they will scream it is stronger and much worse than Irene, but that’s the media for you.
So a hurricane is more “extreme” if it hits New York City instead of say, New Orleans (Katrina-Cat 3) or Homestead, Fla. (Andrew-Cat 5). Got it.
