1780 – The Deadliest Atlantic Hurricane

During the American Revolutionary War, a 200 MPH hurricane killed more than 20,000 people in the Caribbean, and wiped out many British ships.

This of course does not compare to the 60 MPH CO2 charged winds of Irene or Issac, which our friends are hysterical about.
