We seem to have better ice data for Mars than this! Heat transfer to melt the ice must come from the water, not the air, and it stands to reason that if Gulf waters are warmer (past west Africa), then more ice will melt from the Gulf Stream northward.

I think that there is sea ice forming on the coast of alaska It could be because it is cold there.

Anyway, if the Gulf Stream no longer passes northward to the Arctic, someone has some explaining to do about how the Earth stopped rotating, producing the Coriolis force that gives rise to the Mid Ocean Circulation that turns north as a result of depth change off the continental shelf.
