PC Country Gone Nuts

Brett Musberger criticized for complementing Miss Alabama.

On Tuesday morning, commentary on the broadcast of the Bowl Championship Series national title game between Alabama and Notre Dame included words like “creepy,” “awkward,” “uncomfortable” and “heteronormative.”

The subject was not Alabama’s 42-14 victory, but comments made during the game by the ESPN play-by-play announcer Brent Musburger regarding the girlfriend of Alabama quarterback A J McCarron. In the first quarter, ESPN showed McCarron’s girlfriend, Katherine Webb, who was sitting near his parents.

Musburger called the 23-year-old Webb, a former Miss Alabama, a “lovely lady” and “beautiful,” and said to his broadcast partner, Kirk Herbstreit, a former quarterback at Ohio State, “You quarterbacks get all the good-looking women.”

I keep thinking that the red states need to check out from the USSR (United States Socialist Republic) lunatic asylum.

So now a man is supposed to no longer find young women attractive when he gets older?

This Sue Carter sounds like another case of perverted feminism.

  2. ralphcramdo says:

Katherine Webb said she was flattered by Mr. Musburgur’s comments. Case closed I suppose.

Musburger may be old, but he ain’t dead. Dave Matter, OTOH…

It is a sad world when you cannot pay a compliment to a stunningly beautiful woman.

It’s funny that when I was watching live I was laughing because what Brent acted like he thought was a 12, I saw as a solid 7. I assumed Brent was being overly charming which sort of rubs off on you when you spend time with the warm and generous people of Alabama. The American media circus has its audience trained like Pavlov’s dog which drools at stories like this. Too bad we can’t see a map locating the morons who wrote to complain about Brent and wanted to demonize him for an act of Southern graciousness.

  6. johnmcguire says:

Well stated Sundance , except I might take issue with you about the 7 rating . 🙂

It’s funny, I almost never watch sports games, and yet I did watch this one. I had to really think about this scene because I did not even recall it. The issue is that us normal people do not even think twice about an announcer saying that a pretty women is pretty. Its like, duh….the guy is just filling time….and we all forget about it like its no big deal. But then people who have something up their butt (parden the expression, but its the only thing I could think of to convey what the PC crowd must feel like) see it, they see something terrible and alarming. How can a rational person even think like that?

Kind of wish I had TIVO, but looking back at it, none of the people I watched the game with even said one word about it, so I am pretty sure all reasonable people think nothing of it…..How sad are people if they actually think someone admiring a pretty girl is actually worse then other ails in the world such as rape, murder, etc. They really need to get perspective!

  8. Pathway says:

If he’d have just been a rapper he could have call her a bitch or ho or almost any other derogitory term and there would be not even a peep from the LSM.

  9. Hell_Is_Like_Newark says:

A friend of mine was nearly fired for calling a woman ‘a lady’. Apparently, that term is now verboten in PC-Feministville.

  10. “heteronormative”?

    Now they’re making words up!

    • gator69 says:

“Heteronormativity is the body of lifestyle norms that hold that people fall into distinct and complementary genders (man and woman) with natural roles in life. It also holds that heterosexuality is the normal sexual orientation, and states that sexual and marital relations are most (or only) fitting between a man and a woman. Consequently, a “heteronormative” view is one that involves alignment of biological sex, sexuality, gender identity, and gender roles.”

      SHOCKING!!!

Watch out Brett, they just might call you a biped.

I was discussing similar issues with my teenage daughters recently, and I told them that what men find attractive in women are the markers of fertility, and that this was very unlikely to be a coincidence. (And yes, there are scientific studies that show that women who are judged more attractive are less likely to have fertility problems.) They had no trouble with this, and one quoted back to me a line she had heard from a comedian, that “men hate it when they don’t get their genes into the next generation.”

I find it rather amusing that many on the left will deny the evolutionary basis of (hetero)sexual attraction, while at the same time mocking the religious right for its creationist viewpoints. And when the left is so big on “sustainability”, they dismiss the ultimate requirement for the continuation of society as unimportant.

  12. Brian says:

Another problem I have is why do we need journalist and the alike butting in? At least let her decide for herself if she thinks his comments were rude or not. People need to stop trying to speak for other people so much.

People could get hurt. We better ban testosterone. Then, no people will be around to hurt. The only real way to guarantee our safety.
