After being lied to by government scientists all their life, children will grow up to believe that science is just another form of government extortion, or an extension of the mafia.
UK weather: London wakes up to snow as forecast warns big freeze will last a week | Mail Online
You mean like how I was taught in school that based on current rates of consumption all known reserves of oil would be exhausted by the year 2000?
I can’t agree as real scientists are as common as honest politicians in Britain.

Nothing could be viner..
We were told that British children would only see virtual snow, so that snow can’t possibly be real!
Same with the sledge. Who would possibly still be building them?
read the story again…this is her first sleding experience and she is 2 years old…therefore there has been no snow for 2 years…/sarc….
I’d like to see a one year old riding a sledge.

Heh, David Viner’s ears must be burning.
I bet Dr David Viner never thought he would be as famous for his incompetence as he is.
UK Outlook for Saturday 19 Jan 2013 to Monday 28 Jan 2013:
Some uncertainty in the details of the forecast, however through the weekend there should be a good deal of dry and bright weather, but with the risk of snow showers in the east and southeast. More unsettled in the west with spells of rain and snow, which may spread further east on Sunday. Cold or very cold with widespread frost, and the risk of ice. Probably turning more unsettled thereafter, with spells of rain, heavy at times in the west and southwest, and some hill snow, which could fall to lower levels at times in the north and east. Best of drier weather in eastern areas. Frost overnight, and most areas staying cold or rather cold, although perhaps occasionally near normal in the west and southwest.
And that dear friends is what we paid £30M for a computer to give us.
That of course is the Uk Met office

Maybe you should see how much the new one might cost –

“MPs pointed to the associated public benefits (of a supercomputer) of highly accurate weather prediction, particularly in regard to severe weather warnings.” What they don’t realize it that the same wrong forecasts will be made but faster with an upgraded computer.
Meteo has us getting colder over the coming week and that was before the SSW that occurred in the last 24Hrs.
