My $250,000 Donation

We started shopping at Whole Foods Market in Austin Texas, when CO2 was a very safe 350 PPM. It is by far my favorite supermarket, and I have spent well over $250,000 there over the last 20 years.

Here is what their CEO has to say.

Whole Foods CEO Welcomes Climate Change, Warns of Fascism

“Ethical vegan” John Mackey dishes on Obamacare, labor unions, and government meddling.

I believe economic freedom and entrepreneurship are the best ways to end poverty, increase prosperity, and evolve humanity upward. I believe that all forms of socialism have been proven over time to result in a loss of both economic and civil liberties, with increasing poverty.

Contrary to what has been written about me, I am not a “climate change skeptic.” Climate change is clearly occurring, and based on what I have read global temperatures have increased about 1.5 degrees Celsius over the past 150 years. We’ve been in a gradual warming trend since the ending of the “Little Ice Age” in about 1870, and climate change is perfectly natural and not necessarily bad.

I was all excited to hear some sanity from progressives, and then I read the comments. Damn you for getting my hopes up.

Something about the progressive/liberal is very attractive to morons.

  2. NikFromNYC says:

Were he a vegan based on ethical principle, he would not sell meat or even milk, and certainly not tons of them a day. At least he read some Ayn Rand and us junk science debunkers discovered how to get people’s eyes on a simple chart or two. Next we need the pizza eaters, since few people relate to eccentric hypocrites.

  3. Andy DC says:

The guy sounds sensible. Maybe he ought to start a 3rd party for other sensible people alienated from the 2 major parties. There are a lot of us out there who are desperate for an alternative.

    • Eric Simpson says:

Andy, an alternative sounds enticing, but a conservative type 3rd party could present problems for us. I would prefer that somehow the Republican party gets altogether replaced by this 3rd way, like the Republicans replaced the Whigs.
And when I say 3rd way, I don’t mean the Bloomberg way. We need to rework it so we are more Joe the Plumber, not country club. Maybe the Tea Party could play a role in this, or the Tea Party could be it, but I am concerned about the Tea Party’s rough edges (like, for senate nominating Akin and Christine O’Donnell and a host of other sure losers).

  5. I don’t get how someone could be an ethical vegetarian and be okay with murdering of millions of unborn humans. Why are animals worth more than people? But at least he’s pro free market.

    • NikFromNYC says:

Nothing is God’s will unless *you* bless it? Now birth control is “murder,” on your watch. Your Bible is gilded, heavily, righteous one.

NikFromNYC : “Nothing is God’s will unless *you* bless it? Now birth control is “murder,” on your watch. Your Bible is gilded, heavily, righteous one.”

Now birth control is “murder,” – yes, and guess what – there’s not a Bible in sight – not one in my house – never has been and never will be. I am not a “righteous one” – never have been, never will be – too many faults for that, I’m afraid.
The rest of your comment is just dross.

      • Me says:

Better not wack of (circle jerk) off then, it has the potential to be human, and for women, don’t let that fertile stage go to waste it too, it also has the potiental to be human. 😆

      • TonyO of Aust says:

Me – you’re being a bit facetious there. After all, using that line of reasoning, a pile of carbon, water, calcium etc could be regarded as a “potential” human. What I am referring to is the actual embryo, the bit that normally is aborted.

“and for women, don’t let that fertile stage go to waste it too” – there are plenty of female egg donors…

If a circle jerk caused babies, there would be hundreds of thousands of 14 year old boys pushing prams…..so that disproves that hypothesis!!! (Unless, of course, you’re a climate “scientist” and can produce a model to show it is so, and supply altered/fudged/corrupted data to prove it).

      • Me says:

I guess you have reading problems too Tony O.

    • This type of statement is what is called begging the question.

I believe it. That place is expensive!

  7. Lou says:

I went to Whole Foods that just opened recently in Bee Cave (west of Austin) after moving into a new house, I went upstairs to the bar and drank beer that looked like black coffee. Strong stuff…
