Orwell Missed One

Gorge Orwell correctly predicted the future in 1984, “WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY, and IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH”

But he missed an important one MILD WEATHER IS EXTREME. Last winter brought little or no extreme weather to the Northeast US, so NOAA reported it as the third most extreme winter in history.

U.S. Climate Extremes Index

The most extreme event I saw in the Northeast last winter was the traffic jam headed east on I-70, after the Super Bowl in Indianapolis. NOAA knows that they can get away with any fake statistic which serves the cause.

So the weather became extreme after 9/11. How extremely strange. So it most be because of Bin Laden. Shit didn’t they throw him in the sea?

  2. Andy DC says:

What did they do, measure the number of March golf rounds in Michigan? The March warm spell was no doubt by far the worst natural disaster in Michigan history. Unprecedented outbreak of Spring Fever and cases of hooky, all do to AGW!

  3. mwhite says:

Climate change will mean snowy winters will be a thing of the past, kids just won’t know what snow is, blah blah blah

Now in the UK snowy winters are extreme weather events caused by climate change, global warming, whatever

  4. gator69 says:

We had extremely nice weather, so maybe that’s what they meant.

  5. It’s even worse!

Out of six parameters used, one is for daily maximums, and another for daily minimums.

So they are doubling up on warm weather.

Out of the six, the only “extremes”, were on these two temperature indexes. Three of the six were actually well below normal, (and they don’t count tornadoes either).

So really all they are saying is that 2012 was warm. Claims of extreme weather simply do not stand up.

Check all their graphs out here.
