You really can’t make this stuff up.
Why abnormally cold weather doesn’t “disprove” global warming
We are thousands of miles farther from the Sun than we were six months ago. That changes the average temperature.
How to respond to people who say the cold weather disproves global warming | Grist
Actually, the earth is closest to the sun right now. We are five million km closer to the sun now than we were in July.
When the Earth is closest to the Sun it is said to be at perihelion. This occurs around January 3rd at a distance of 147,098,074 km. When it is at its furthest distance from the Sun, Earth is said to be at aphelion. That happens around July 4th at a distance of 152,097,701 km.
The Earth’s orbit is quite regular, and only a flaming imbecile would attempt to blame abnormal cold on it. Obama considers global warming advocates to be great scientists, because they also hate America.

Don’t they know the IPCC has already ruled out the Sun as a driver of climate? It’s all CO2 and black carbon now.

No doubt!!
A child’s explanation. I guess they never grew up.
After winning re-election, I expect they think they are pretty much talking to children, and can just keep getting away with it.
They are.
And not very bright children at that.
Probably not a bad assumption given the results. You have to speak to the majority, not the knowledgeable.
You forgot to take into account the angle at which the suns rays hit the earth due to the tilt of the axis. This lead to far less solar energy being imparted to the Earth surface during the winter (shorter days and lower solar angle).
I didn’t forget anything. You are having a conversation with yourself about a different topic.
Do you comment on blogs when you get home from school?
Grist goes full stupid? Has it ever been anything else?
