What’s going on here?
Are they honestly going to let this turn into a farce?
Manual adjustments became necessary?
Very odd.
There appears to be no similar decline in extent according to JAXA (yet!) :
http://www.ijis.iarc.uaf.edu/en/home/seaice_extent.htm
Are DMI figures reliable?
I told you guys not to leave that cable across the hall like that.
This has to be an error, it would be too obvious otherwise.
I agree – or a feasible explanation.
They good news is: eventually enough scientists will give up the ship if global warming is not true – though it may take years to reach that tipping point.
It’s too obvious even for an error. Somebody spilled jelly on the output, and tried to futz it off with his thumb. His boss, a career nimrod, said, “Hey, that’s all right!”
Wow, that’s is weird. Instantaneous melting. That requires infinite energy. They must have found a new, miraculous, intantaneous energy source. Let’s have for everyone.

Take a look here.
One sector is missing. It happens every now and then.

Jussi, I apologize (and I think you are being sincere) but is that a joke? Meaning, did you photoshop that or is that a legit site? I am 90% sure it’s legit. Thanks.
http://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/icedrift_anim/index.uk.php
DMI is using this satellite data to calculate its curve.
http://saf.met.no/p/ice/nh/conc/conc.shtml
and here is the 30% cut off of the same data
http://saf.met.no/p/ice/nh/edge/edge.shtml
Anyone know it the posting is automatic and therefore the graph now needs a manual adjustment …..a real adjustment not a Hansen fudg-o-matic correction?
It looks as if you answered your own question about whether OSI SAF is a legit site. Or, are you still 10% unsure? 😉
Sorry Jussi–I got you and Notbryan mixed up. Thanks for the links! 🙂
That makes more sense than the heat monster rising from the deep.
Nuts, I was hoping for a new lava island to come bursting out of the Arctic ocean….
Just what I suspected, Arctic Lakes are pie-shaped phenomena. 😉
OK who let Hansen have access to the data?
Rowing team is blow torching the entire Arctic!!!
😀
Dr. Jeff Masters’ WunderBlog
July 2013 the 30th Warmest July on Record for the U.S.
Posted by: Dr. Jeff Masters, 9:40 PM GMT on August 13, 2013 +39
July 2013 was the 30th warmest July in the contiguous U.S. since record keeping began in 1895, said NOAA’s National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) in their latest State of the Climate report. A persistent trough of low pressure over the middle of the country brought unusually cool conditions there, and strong ridges of high pressure over both the East Coast and West Coast brought unusually warm conditions to the West and Northeast. Massachusetts had its warmest July on record, and ten other states in the Northeast and West had top-ten warmest Julys on record. Four southern states had top-ten coolest Julys on record. The number of record warm highs and lows was roughly the same as the number of record cold highs and lows during July. For the year-to-date period January – July, both temperature and precipitation over the contiguous U.S. have been above normal, ranking in the upper 35% and 21% of years, respectively.
According to NOAA’s U.S. Climate Extremes Index (CEI), which tracks the percentage area of the contiguous U.S. experiencing top-10% and bottom-10% extremes in temperature, precipitation, and drought, July extremes were slightly above average, and the year-to-date period January – July 2013 was also slightly above average.
Is this true or a wet dream?
What they mean is that it was about an average July. Since all their records have been adjusted to make previous temperatures colder than they were, 30th is downright cool but recent standards. It’s bascially the coldest July since the 70s? That’s pretty cold.
OFA Gets Zero Attendance for Climate Change Rally
Not a single person showed up at the Georgetown waterfront Tuesday for a climate change agenda event put on by Organizing for Action, the shadowy nonprofit advocacy group born out of President Obama’s 2012 campaign.

I’m pretty sure that is a glitch. It likely will be soon fixed.
Here is a neat DMI animated map of ice concentration. While the normal shrinkage of ice can be seen away from the coasts of Siberia and Alaska, the ice concentration stops thinning (Color code: White to grey) and starts increasing (color code: grey to white) over the past 14 days over towards Greenland and the pole itself.
http://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/icedrift_anim/index.uk.php
Turn the animation up to top speed and you get the definite sense ice is circling the pole and not being flushed out through Fram Strait.
On the Greenland side of the pole, temperatures remain below the freezing point of salt water and the snow-stake shows snow is deeper. See update at bottom of http://sunriseswansong.wordpress.com/2013/08/06/north-pole-camera-one-pictures-polar-bear-tracks/
They never fix bad data, they just add it to records and use it.
Right. A million square kilometers of ice disappeared overnight. GMAFB.
this is just that storm….and their new algorithm to show more difference in ice and water
expect a short fast decrease…followed by a rapid increase
air and SST’s are below freezing
That chart will be all over the news by this evening and in tomorrow’s papers like the N Pole was melting away stories.. lol
All of the other charts not showing that Decline. I wonder if the chart was hacked.
I would be surprised if there are no tweets from warmists!
It would be a good thing if the media took this and ran with it. They’d be proven wrong next day and CAGWists would look even worse.
They turned the model up to 11.

if the missing heat melts the Arctic there won’t be enough left to heat up the world
Obuma took a slice of the Arctic for his vacation shave-ice cones:
http://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/icedrift_anim/index.uk.php
watch the animation.
Obviously it’s not the temps: http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/08/14/the-early-chill-in-the-arctic-continues/
I think they lack some data in their plot so the graph doesn’t reflect the real situation.
Warmists must have snuck in nuclear bomb there….
They told us we were killing the planet…
Maybe its worse than we thought 😉
Guys, it could be that they’re finally letting that old one go. They’ve a more recent calculation that renders a different graph that they have been using as their “official” graph. It shows a down tick, but, nothing like what is represented in the graph above….
http://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/plots/icecover/icecover_current_new.png
Reblogged this on Climate Ponderings.
20% of the polar bears are gone with the missing ice.
Aliens took the ice..lol
I think they were counting on the storm to blow the ice away like last year and programed that in weeks ago and didn’t notice that the storm didn’t happen.
It was reported on Drudge report yesterday… therefore data “corrections” had to be made.
Satellite outage.

GOES-East Outage
One of the better headlines Steve’s come up with, and that’s saying a lot.
looks like satellite error to me
http://ocean.dmi.dk/arctic/icedrift_anim/index.uk.php
or did CAGW had it for lunch?
