A New Set Of Rules – Which NSIDC Probably Wants To Ignore

Arctic temperatures this summer are by far the coldest on record. NSIDC is officially chartered with reporting on polar ice conditions, but their functional charter appears to be pushing the global warming agenda.

How will they resolve this, now that they are diametrically opposed?

Rubbish Steven. Warming causes cooling, remember? /sarc

  2. omnologos says:

if you average the positive anomalies in the winter with the negatives of the summer, looks like the Arctic has warmed quite a lot

unfortunately it’s warmed from abysmally cold to awfully cold

…demonstrating the fundamental limit of anomalies

That free fall is truly amazing! I hope this isn’t another glitch.

The Great Lakes salt mines had better get cranked up to overdrive and start shipping out massive amounts of product for the roads. This doesn’t bode well for the Glow Bull Wormers’ driving around in their Toyota Pious rolling coffins this winter. Algore’s heating bill for his mansion(s) is going to be ass-tronomical. Perhaps he can get a discount from his UAE oil sheikh buddies?

Walt Meier already has this covered :

“Surface temperature doesn’t really tell you much”

    • gator69 says:

Correct, temperatures have nothing to do with climate, unless they do.

    • B.C. says:

So the whole “We’re going to fry because of surface temps!” meme has now been thrown under the ObamaBus by Walt and his friends? I suppose Jimbo Hansen and Mickey Mann-Made Glow Bull Worming can stop adjusting falsifying the surface temperature record now and move on to corrupting other areas of the historical record.

Don’t forget that warming is suppose to be “amplified” in the arctic. It is suppose to be greater, and easier to see, and more obvious. Record-setting cold so utterly demolishes the concept of “amplified” warming that it is like a bullet through the heart of Alarmist Theory. Therefore you are correct to say the THEORY is dead. However the preachers of the theory are like all the crawling bugs and wiggling worms hiding under a rotton log, now exposed to the light of day as their shelter is lifted up and tossed into the trash. They are scuttling every which way.

By the way, the DMI “extent” graph now has an uptick. Likely it will turn down again, but what an uproar there would be the graph didn’t turn down again, and the close of the “melt-season” was here already!

  9. shazaam says:

Maybe all the believers can get together and huff and puff a hurricane onto a north Atlantic trajectory. Otherwise it looks like the “unprecedented” summer cold is content to sit on the Arctic ocean and make ice cubes.

  11. Robertv says:

Although stratospheric temperatures have stayed pretty much in the same range over the last two decades, a range of satellite and radiosonde datasets ranked 2012 as just barely the coldest year or nearly the coldest on record in the lower stratosphere since records began.
