Was that the flood where the Yellow River decided to exit to the sea north of the Shandong Peninsula, rather than to the south? It was a shift of many hundreds of miles. Hard to even imagine, like the Mississippi River suddenly deciding to go to the Gulf of Mexico via Houston, rather than New Orleans.
I think the Father of Waters has done that Houston thing a time or two in the past. In fact in the last 100 or so years the Mississippi tried to reach the Gulf via the Red River and a large portion of the Mississippi still does.
Set your browser on Goggle Earth Satellite View and zoom in on the Mississippi. There are a multitude of river channels and ox bow lakes all along the Mississippi bottoms and they are clearly visible from space. Some day Naw Orleans will be a land locked no river rivertown.
I actually talked about the Mississippi moving, in something that got published over at WUWT around a year ago:
“….In the case of the Mississippi the new route would be the Atchafalaya River. The Mississippi likely wanted to take that new route seventy years ago, which would have been an economic and ecological disaster for New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and the Delta. You don’t just stop delivering 406 million tons of dirt a year, and expect a delta to not wash away, (even as a new delta grows to the west.)
In essence Mother Nature wants everyone to pack up and move. Not merely humans, but entire ecosystems. In the process it will not matter to her if historic districts vanish, along with the habitat of various endangered critters. A few creatures might even be unable to make the shift west, and go extinct, (in which case Mother Nature might get a tongue lashing from McKibben.)….”

2nd generation German “toxic” gas researchers announce that all forms marine life can receive the Final Solution. UN IPCC apparently endorses the findings.
