When Einstein said “If the facts don’t fit the theory, change the facts” he probably didn’t intend for people to take him literally.

A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.
Albert Einstein
He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would suffice.
Albert Einstein
Never do anything against conscience even if the state demands it.
Albert Einstein
We still do not know one thousandth of one percent of what nature has revealed to us.
Albert Einstein
Perhaps the Met Office is listening to Mann:
MANN to JONES about YAMAL (Oct 27, 2009): “As we all know, this isn’t about
truth at all …” [1256735067.txt}
I apologize as this is OT, but thought you might be interested. This quote is from a post at Little Green Footballs by a gent with the screen name of Ludwig van Quixote. Now we are getting into silencing folks speech. Wow.
“It is not clear to me that dangerous lies which harm the common good are protected speech. You are not allowed to shout fir in a crowded theater. You are not allowed to sell poison as a “miracle cure.”
Bad faith, intentionally false, “science” reporting that is not scientific, but nonetheless endangers our entire civilization strikes me as no different that falsely shouting fire in a theater. The only difference is global scale that endangers billions vs. local scale that endangers at most 100.”
Imagine the chaos if word got out that Earth is not the center of the universe!
Just thinking about the possibility of such a thing is causing my to have nightmares!
Did you have to bring up that apostasy?
I would submit to Ludwig van Quixote, if that were the case, then it is time to start rounding up the climate alarmists and imprison them.
As pointed out, Mann states it isn’t about the truth, another earlier stated they needed to embellish a bit to increase the alarm. It is clearly evident that Pachy knew the Himalayan study was fraudulent before he went spouting about all the studies in the AR4 were peer-reviewed/scientifically factual. GISS and HadCrut are constantly fiddling with historic temps, and the list goes on ad nauseum. So, yeh, lock them up. The damage they’ve done to humanity is unforgivable by my perspective.
The number of deaths that can be directly related to the Environmental movements far exceeds the number of lives lost due to WW2! But they know best!!! đ

Guy’s a grade A nut case.
Tried arguing with him on AGW once – Charles Johnson promptly banned me.
Worth remembering that Johnson was an early prominent and vocal sceptic – before suddenly seeing the light (heat?).
Like most religious converts he is now a rabid adherent of the pure faith.
Mike Davis,
I really don’t think that is correct. How has the environmental movement killed millions and millions of people? What about the number of lives lost due to shock capitalism?
A lot less than those seen off by Stalin + Mao.
The enviro-freaks are responsible for the DDT scare and caused it use to be banned. I’m sure the millions that have died from maleria would thank them for that ban…
How about the people that have shorter life expectancies because of ECO freaks wanting them to live in harmony with nature and the reduction in human aid because funds are being diverted to “Save the World”.
You should stop and look at what has happened in the last 20 years. How many were killed due to genocide/ ethnic cleansing that was overlooked while it was happening. that is also a environmental objective. There are regions that have natural resources that would raise the regional standard of living but Environmentalists wanted to maintain the natural standard of living that would be destroyed.
That is not counting the repercussions of the current regulations that have been introduced throughout the industrialized countries but we are recently seeing results from those. he loss of life around the globe this winter due to excess cold need not happen. It is to late to stop the train wreck!

the common grain being authoritarian and totalitarian
they differ only in the marketing
The TARP is in no way remotely related to capitalism, if that’s what you were referring to.
But more than that, Clear, life and quality of life are directly related to “standard of living”. Poverty kills. I’ve not seen one environmental policy that realistically encourages continued prosperity for wealthy nations and economic growth for impoverished nations.
malaria…
Clearscience:
Of course you would not think what I said was accurate because someone believing a lie will think the truth is a lie.
>When Einstein said âIf the facts donât fit the theory, change the factsâ he probably didnât intend for people to take him literally.<
He wasn't being sarcastic, because he didn't say it! No source has ever been found for this quote. It's an urban myth that he said it.
