Without fracking, Obama’s war on coal would be impossible. The large increase in natural gas production have given him cover for shutting down the burning of coal in the US. Prior to the fracking boom, he had to rely on imaginary green energy.

About a year ago he changed tack. He declared natural gas (and thus fracking) to be green, and created a strategy which would move burning of US coal overseas and thus give him a way to pretend that he was reducing CO2 emissions.

In order to push the global warming/climate change scam, the MWP and LIA had to be eliminated.

Mikey Mann erased the MWP and LIA, and threw in an added bonus of a big spike after 1960.

President Obama laughs at anyone who doesn’t think this is top quality, settled science.

Climategate E-mails show that climate scientists wanted to get rid of the 1940 temperature spike. Part of that strategy was to invert it in the Southern Hemisphere, which they did.

It would be good to remove at least part of the 1940s blip, but we are still left with “why the blip”.

The 1990 IPCC Report showed that the Southern Hemisphere cooled from 1948 to 1966, but GISS has reversed that into a strong warming trend.

I normally focus on NASA and NOAA altering the temperature record of the past 150 years, but once in a while it is a good idea to remember that the same alteration is being committed with the long term temperature record too. As of 1990, the IPCC showed that the MWP was much warmer than the 20th century.

It is well known that trees grew in Greenland when the Vikings lived there. Greenland is too cold for trees now.

But facts don’t matter in modern climate science. It is about keeping politicians like Barack Obama happy, so after the year 2000 they simply erased the MWP and created the hockey stick.

If I was from Ecuador, I would be really pissed off.

What the president is saying is that he is making up statistics about a group of people he doesn’t know much about, and that he understands those people generally keep their mouth shut because they like to keep their funding and job – and avoid McCarthyite attacks like Richard Tol and others have faced.

In my previous post, I showed how NASA has altered pre-1999 US temperatures relative to their previously published data.

The next graph shows their current adjustments since 1998, calculated across all stations with no missing data since 1990. Their post 1998 adjustments are warming the US at 3.6F/century.

In 1999, NASA reported the US was in a 70 year cooling trend.

That story wasn’t scary and wasn’t going to raise any money for NASA, so they massively altered the data to create a warming trend. The 2014 version adds 1.3C/century warming from 1976 to 1998, which didn’t exist 15 years ago.
