A favorite alarmist (Weather Channel) trick is to put someone with an English accent next to some imagery of water flowing in Greenland, and have them comment that there is more water than they expected.
Enough snow falls on Greenland every year to bury Manhattan 20 miles deep, essentially past the top of the atmosphere. In order to maintain equilibrium of the ice sheet, all of that snow has to melt every year. It generates a lot of water when it melts.
