After a 45-minute walk Friday night, President Barack Obama made a fateful decision that none of his top national security advisers saw coming: To seek congressional authorization before taking military action in Syria.

Aides said the decision was made by Mr. Obama and Mr. Obama alone. It shows the primacy the president places on protecting his hoped-for legacy as a commander in chief who did everything in his power to disentangle the U.S. from overseas wars. Until Friday night, Mr. Obama’s national-security team didn’t even have an option on the table to seek a congressional authorization.

The US Constitution actually says that only Congress has the authority to start wars – not the UN Security Council and not the president. You would think that a Constitutional law scholar like Obama might have actually read the Constitution at some point in his life.

In other words : our imbecile dictator, who is forbidden by law to start a war, suffered yet another synapse malfunction.

Obama is going to have to buy a lot of carbon offsets for his California buds.

Massive Yosemite blaze may have been sparked by illegal marijuana growers

The massive forest fire that has scorched 333 square miles in and around Yosemite National Park may have been sparked by illegal marijuana growers, according to one fire official in Tuolumne County.  The San Jose Mercury News reports that Todd McNeal, chief of the Twain Harte Fire Department, told a community meeting that it was “highly suspect that there might have been some sort of illicit grove, a marijuana-grow-type thing.”

McNeal, who has 23 years of experience with Forest Service, the National Park Service and other agencies, said at the Aug. 23 meeting that investigators know the fire is human caused since there was know lightening in the area.

For the past week, Obama has been insisting that he was going to attack Syria regardless of legality or anyone else’s opinion. Now that he is over his infantile “get even with Putin” temper tantrum, the press is already trying to rehabilitate his image.

Obama has been granted a great gift, which allows him to bypass evidence and just start recklessly shooting from the hip. This week he was trying to use that gift to start WWIII.

It finally showed up, just north of Barrow.

In February, the man then in charge of Ofgem, Britain’s industry regulator, warned of an impending “near-crisis” of energy supply, calling the situation “horrendous” and likening it to being on a roller coaster headed “downhill—fast.” Deputy Minister Nick Clegg was quoted saying that he was working to “keep the lights on.”

The main reason for the possible crunch: Britain is closing a number of aging coal-fired plants—as well as some oil and nuclear ones—to meet European Union environmental laws.

Shame on the US/UK – you never learn from your mistakes. As an Iraqi Christian, with family in Syria who fled Iraq after the consequences of your invasion, It’s a case of deja vu all over again.

Please explain one thing to me, why is the West interested in dismantling secular states in the middle east and replacing them with Islamist-fascist states?

In Iraq, you replaced a secular state, where there was freedom of religion, and my people lived peacefully, with a theocratic Iranian backed government compounded by Wahabbi and Salafist elements that never existed in the country prior to your invasion. Now Iraqi Christians are murdered en masse and cannot worship freely – actually, all Iraqis are being murdered on en masse.

Do you not understand that your ‘democracy’ is not attainable in the middle east? Religious and tribal differences do not permit it. In Iraq, we were happy with the social freedoms under Saddam Hussein – even if it came at the sacrifice of political freedoms. Now, neither exist.
