A peaceful protest of the George Zimmerman verdict in Los Angeles turned violent Monday after youths broke away from the main demonstration in Leimert Park, stomped on cars, broke windows, set fires and attacked several people.

KCBS-TV/KCAL-TV reporter Dave Bryan and his cameraman were among those who came under assault. One of the two journalists was taken to a hospital with a possible concussion,Los Angeles Police Department Lt. Andy Neiman told The Times.

Protesters also stormed a Wal-Mart in the Crenshaw district of Los Angeles, pushing their way through as guards scrambled to close security gates. A short while later, LAPD officers wearing helmets and carrying batons swarmed the store as others marched through the parking lot.

Young vandals who entered the Wal-Mart stormed in, threw merchandise on the ground and yelled, shoppers told a Times reporter. Some tried to break open the jewelry glass displays. The disturbance in the Crenshaw district of Los Angeles caused about 350 LAPD officers to swarm the area, leading to at least 13 arrests.

Elsewhere, one young man was seen throwing a metal wastebasket at the window of a darkened Jack-in-the-Box restaurant.

Weekend violence leaves 9 dead, 47 shot

“Our son is dead! Oh Jesus!” the 57-year-old screamed, referring to Cortez, one of her three sons, who was killed earlier that morning on Chicago’s West Side. “Oh my God! Oh my God! We were just talking.”

At least 34 people were shot — nine of them fatally — Saturday afternoon through Father’s Day Sunday, stretching from 94th Street and Loomis Avenue on the South Side up to about North Avenue and North Pulaski Road on the Northwest Side, according to authorities. The youngest person killed during one of the bloodiest weekends in Chicago this year, 15-year-old Michael Westley, was fatally shot by a police officer Sunday night.

A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot by a Chicago police officer in the South Side’s Englewood neighborhood Sunday night, authorities said.

Relatives identified the victim in Sunday night’s shooting as Michael Westley, as did the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Family members rushed to the hospital after the shooting, said Niyah Lewis, who said she was Westley’s cousin.

Lewis, 32, said the shooting happened shortly after the boy had been throwing a football in front of a Father’s Day gathering at his grandmother’s home.

Westley was a high school freshman, said Irea Martin, 32, who said she was his aunt.

“We’re not talking about a 17-year-old,” Martin said. “We’re talking about a kid.”

Second Anniversary Of The Funniest Aggie Joke

Two years ago this week, Texas A&M professor Andrew Dessler announced the permanent Texas heatwave and drought :

Texas is vulnerable to warming climate

The weather of the 21st century will be very much like the hot and dry weather of 2011.

Texas is vulnerable to warming climate – Houston Chronicle

As an added bonus, he threw in the punchline

every staunch climate skeptic I’ve ever met is also rabidly opposed to Obama’s health care reform

Gaia has celebrated the second anniversary of his forecasts with record cold and rainfall, and Obama trashing his own Obamacare disaster.

Arctic Alarmists Trying To Weasel Their Way Out Of Their BS

Polar ice loss cause still unclear

New research shows that glaciologists still cannot say for certain whether the Earth’s north and south polar ice is melting faster

Here is a non-conclusion: after nine years of close observation, researchers still cannot be sure whether the planet is losing its ice caps at an accelerating rate.

In other words, they have been talking out of their asses for the past nine years.

That is because the run of data from one satellite is still not long enough to answer the big question: are Greenland and Antarctica melting because of global warming, or just blowing hot before blowing cold again in some long-term natural cycle?

Polar ice loss cause still unclear | Environment | guardian.co.uk

What they are saying is that Greenland and Antarctica are both cooling, and the formerly hysterical scientists need to find a way to back out of all the BS they have been spreading.

Rowers Blame Global Warming For Cold Weather And Excess Ice

Three weeks ago they announced that they were going to row the Northwest Passage – because global warming made it possible.  Now they say that the trip isn’t possible because it is too cold and there is too much ice, and that global warming is making it too warm there.

Strange weather has defined the year we are told. It’s been colder than usual and the ice has been very slow in going out. Climate change critics may quickly point this out as a damning argument but the reality of climate change is not reflected in specific anomaly but rather in overall trend.

Yes. All the ice melted except that there is more than normal.

The locals in Tuktoyaktuk describe an Arctic that is in profound change. We are told the summer is longer on both ends by at least two weeks. “They shot a grizzly bear at the north end of Banks Island,” explained Billy, a local elder “They saw a wolverine too”.

The elders say that it is really cold, and that it is getting really warm.

We receive a stern warning from our weather router stating unequivocally: “Unwise to move ahead, you are ready for your route but your route is not ready for you.” We immediately tuck into the lee of a sandy spit and access our options.

Our arrival in Tuk to our departure is less than 24 hours

In other words, their route is blocked with ice.

“There was a couple of them in there that wanted to find him guilty of something”

A couple of the jurors were on an all-day fishing trip – looking for an excuse to put Zimmerman in jail.

An initial vote was split. Three of the jurors first voted Zimmerman was guilty, while three voted he was not guilty, she said. Juror B37 was among those who believed he was not guilty from the start.

“There was a couple of them in there that wanted to find him guilty of something and after hours and hours and hours of deliberating over the law, and reading it over and over and over again, we decided there’s just no way, other place to go,” she said.
