Shock News : A Governor With A Brain And A Conscience
Maine Gov. Paul LePage (R) vetoed legislation on Monday which would have authorized a long-term study to prepare the state’s communities and businesses for the effects of climate change.
As mayor of Waterville, Maine in 2010, LePage said in a radio interview, “I don’t know if global warming is a myth or not, but I will say this: I do not believe in the Al Gore science.” The Maine Public Broadcasting Network reported the gubernatorial candidate also said, “We just need to fight back” against “the scams.”

Do You Think The Rain Might Cool Things Down?
I’m seeing hysterical weather reports all over the Internet about super-hot forecast temperatures in the Southwest this weekend.
Given that much of the region is expecting rain producing thunderstorms, this forecast seems overblown. It requires a lot of heat to evaporate water.
The Weather Underground forecast for Phoenix shows temperatures this week between 104 and 117F. That is not particularly unusual for this time of year. In 1974 they had 19 straight days over 110F, and of course we had no A/C in the frat house!

You Might Think They Are Stupid Or Something
25 years ago this week Hansen opened up the window at the capitol building, so that he could get all hot and sweaty as evidence of global warming.
This week, Obama gave an outdoor speech at 2 pm at Georgetown U, so that he could get all hot and sweaty as evidence of global warming.

Snowden Says That He Should Be Shot In The Balls
WASHINGTON — Years before he became the world’s most notorious leaker, Edward Snowden ranted online about how he hated people who spill secrets so much that he wanted to blast them in the private parts, it was revealed yesterday.
In 2009, the tech geek declared on a Web forum that groups such as WikiLeaks and The New York Times, which publish sensitive government information, “should be shot in the balls.”

Obama Acknowledges That World Leaders Don’t Take Him Seriously
President Barack Obama has said there will be no “wheeling and dealing” as part of extradition efforts against US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden.
i.e. no one in Russia takes him seriously
Speaking on a visit to the West African nation of Senegal, Mr Obama also said the case would be dealt with through routine legal channels.
That ought to work
“I am not going to be scrambling jets to get a 29-year-old hacker,” he added.
Hacker? He was a contractor given access to the data by the government. Sending US military jets to the Moscow Airport sounds like an ingenious plan.
Mr Snowden, who faces espionage charges, flew to Moscow last weekend and requested asylum in Ecuador.
Mr Obama said on Thursday that he had not called China and Russia’s presidents about the case, adding: “I shouldn’t have to.”
i.e. he doesn’t want to get laughed at by other world lesders
‘Damage done’
He told a news conference in the Senegalese capital Dakar: “I’m not going to have one case of a suspect who we’re trying to extradite suddenly being elevated to the point where I’ve got to start doing wheeling and dealing and trading on a whole host of other issues.”
i.e. all that national security crisis talk earlier in the week was just the usual bullshit

Understanding Catastrophic Sea Level Rise
Hansen says that the West Antarctic Ice Sheet is going to collapse, due to a 0.0001 mole fraction increase in CO2. This will turn downtown Miami into a scuba diving destination.
Sea ice has been steadily increasing around Antarctica for the last 30 years, and is near record highs now. This can mean only one thing. the ice is melting and Miami is toast.
