That Would Require A President Who Was Working For The US

It would seem approving Keystone XL would be a no-brainer. Thousands of middle-class jobs created, millions of barrels of oil from our North American ally and neighbor, and not a dime of taxpayer money spent. But for some reason, the president has still not found a way to say “yes” to this important middle class jobs and energy project. It has now been over four years, over 1,620 days, since TransCanada first applied to the State Department to build the Keystone XL pipeline and bring jobs and energy security to America. It is well past time to build the Keystone XL pipeline.

CO2 Levels Must Be Way Down

The world’s greatest climate scientists tell us that Arctic winter warmth is due to trapped heat from CO2, so the the persistent anomalous cold which the Arctic is now seeing can mean only one of two things.

  1. CO2 levels are way down
  2. Many climate scientists are idiots

New York Times Just Can’t Turn Off The BS

DENVER — After enduring last summer’s destructive drought, farmers, ranchers and officials across the parched Western states had hoped that plentiful winter snows would replenish the ground and refill their rivers, breaking the grip of one of the worst dry spells in American history. No such luck.

Thin Snowpack Signals Summer of Fire and Drought – NYTimes.com

The current dry spell is hardly one of the most severe in history. It is actually quite ordinary and cyclical.

Colorado, Palmer Modified Drought Index (PMDI), 36-Month Period Ending in January, 1898-2013

Most our precipitation for the year comes between March and June, which hasn’t even started yet. In 1995, there was very little snowpack in Mid-April, and record snowpack in June. Same thing in 2011.

We are up to our necks in snow along the Front Range, which is where the fires occurred last year.  Many places on the western slope have plenty of snow too.

They have no way of predicting what the fire season will be like at this time. Their level of journalism is completely in the gutter. We are expecting up to 600% of normal precipitation over the next week.

“Hard to believe that six weeks ago I was joking about how we do not get snow anymore”

Grand Haven High School teacher C.E. Sikkenga noted on his facebook page this morning: “I do not keep accurate records on such things, but I believe the single season record for most snow days in my career stands at eight back in 1993-94. Today makes seven this year. Hard to believe that six weeks ago I was joking about how we do not get snow anymore.

Life In The Dark Ages

ScreenHunter_181 Feb. 27 12.54

We have a government of people obsessed with controlling the climate by legislation or executive order. In the past, these people would have been openly ridiculed as lunatics.

Even if you believe Hansen’s bullshit, the ability of the US government to control global CO2 levels is so small as to be almost irrelevant.

US Shrinks Again

Last winter, when the Eastern US was one of the few warm places on Earth, the US occupied about 90% of the world’s climate, and the lack of snow was proof of global warming.

But now that the same area has turned cold, the US again only occupies a minute percentage of the world’s climate, and the abundance of snow is consistent with global warming.

Sequestered Brains

If Obama goes through with his threat to fire school teachers after four years of failed opportunities to cut spending, he will be eviscerated. It will be obvious that he is using teachers as a political pawn. That is the only place he could think of to cut spending????

Republicans are holding a straight flush, Obama has nothing – and Republicans are about to fold. What a bunch of complete losers.

Australia Permanent Drought Update

January 4, 2008

This drought may never break

IT MAY be time to stop describing south-eastern Australia as gripped by drought and instead accept the extreme dry as permanent, one of the nation’s most senior weather experts warned yesterday.

“Perhaps we should call it our new climate,” said the Bureau of Meteorology’s head of climate analysis, David Jones.
