Real Climate Science

I am not certain that Al Gore alone can destroy the planet, but Al Gore + James Cameron certainly will.

Our friends have been saying that late summer Arctic ice loss causes cold winters in Europe, but remarkably Europe sometimes has cold winters when late summer Arctic ice extent is high.

The Sydney Morning Herald

I have no idea how anyone could be dumb enough to believe that variations in September ice extent could control January/February weather, but peer review tells us that stupidity is rampant.

1. Pretend that you don’t notice the 30 year steady growth of Antarctic sea ice
2. Pretend that you don’t remember that you predicted maximum sea ice loss in the southern hemisphere
3. Highlight articles about Penguins being threatened by loss of Antarctic sea ice, at the same time Antarctic sea ice is setting record highs
4. Create a straw man argument that the increase in Antarctic sea ice does not disprove global warming
5. Say that you predicted the increase in Antarctic sea ice all along

I lost JAXA minimum bets with three people. Greg Locke, MFKBoulder and one other whom I don’t remember. If you are the third person, please leave a comment here reminding me.

I will pay the bets this week when I write my 2012 Arctic summer post-mortem.

We have now passed the date of the first coming of the holy Arctic minimum (9/24/2007) and as everyone can plainly see, the Arctic is doomed.

The August 2012 winter-like storm which broke up the ice and brought warm water to the surface has now defined the future of mankind. We will all certainly die in a fiery hell as a result of that storm.

This is classic. Some clown strung together about a dozen straw man arguments rebutting a whole host of things I never said. The low Arctic ice minimum seems to have these people very excited, and thinking that any random idea which pops into their head must be very important.

Another guy – MFKBoulder – has been frantically spamming the blog with dozens of comments reminding me that I lost the JAXA bet I made with him.

The religious icon of Arctic minimum extent is proving to be a very powerful one for the faithful.

Johnson started the Vietnam War over an incident which never occurred, managed to get 70,000 Americans killed – and then we left the place a complete mess with the Khmer Rouge in charge of much of the region.

There is something fascinating about science.
One gets such wholesale returns of conjecture
out of such a trifling investment of fact.

23 Sep 1939 – VEGETABLE LIFE ON MARS?

Antarctica has a lot more sea ice than has ever been measured by satellites in the Arctic.

That is why alarmists have to close their eyes and pretend that they don’t see the southern hemisphere, and that their polar amplification theory is a joke.

Rodgers fuming at referee

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers insisted the best team lost and blamed mistakes by referee Mark Halsey for contributing to their first defeat to Manchester United at Anfield since 2007.

Rodgers took issue with the sending-off of Jonjo Shelvey, the penalty that Robin Van Persie converted to win the game 2-1 and Halsey’s decision not to award Liverpool a spot-kick when Luis Suarez was felled in the second half.
