Only His Hairdresser Knows For Sure

Does Obama control the weather, or not? Nancy Pelosi says that he doesn’t control the weather.

The Democratic leader said the weather is “a higher power” that the president can’t control.

“It’s rain, what can we do?” Pelosi said at a breakfast sponsored by The Christian Science Monitor. “There are some decisions that are made from a different place and whether it rains or not is not in the president’s control.”

Pelosi: Obama can’t control the weather

However, on the same day Obama told us that he does control the weather. The Democrats need to decide if their Messiah does, or does not control the climate.

More droughts and floods and wildfires are not a joke.  They’re a threat to our children’s future.  And in this election, you can do something about it.

Dems took the mention of God out of their platform, without bothering to think how that might hurt Obama’s feelings.

Stopping Climate Change

Too bad they didn’t know how to stop climate change during the Little Ice Age. Just think of all the pleasant weather they could have saved us from.

I am particularly sad that no one knew how to stop climate change during the 1930s. CO2 was very safe during the Dust Bowl.

“And then the dispossessed were drawn west- from Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico; from Nevada and Arkansas, families, tribes, dusted out, tractored out. Car-loads, caravans, homeless and hungry; twenty thousand and fifty thousand and a hundred thousand and two hundred thousand. They streamed over the mountains, hungry and restless – restless as ants, scurrying to find work to do – to lift, to push, to pull, to pick, to cut – anything, any burden to bear, for food. The kids are hungry. We got no place to live. Like ants scurrying for work, for food, and most of all for land.”

– John Steinbeck, The Grapes of Wrath, 1939

Hope And Change : 89 Million Americans Not Working

The number of Americans whom the U.S. Department of Labor counted as “not in the civilian labor force” in August hit a record high of 88,921,000.

The Labor Department counts a person as not in the civilian labor force if they are at least 16 years old, are not in the military or an institution such as a prison, mental hospital or nursing home, and have not actively looked for a job in the last four weeks. The department counts a person as in “the civilian labor force” if they are at least 16, are not in the military or an institution such as a prison, mental hospital or nursing home, and either do have a job or have actively looked for one in the last four weeks.

In July, there were 155,013,000 in the U.S. civilian labor force. In August that dropped to 154,645,000—meaning that on net 368,000 people simply dropped out of the labor force last month and did not even look for a job.

Scientists : Earth To Freeze

PBS told us that scientists can see the climate future from their house in Alaska

Scientists say Alaska is like a canary in a coal mine, foreshadowing the types of changes we can expect for the rest of the world.

After the one of Alaska`s coldest, snowiest winters on record, followed by one of the coldest summers on record, followed by an early winter – we can safely conclude that we are all going to freeze to death. Scientists said so.

Gore’s Challenge to the US: 100% Zero-Carbon Electricity in 10 Years

17 July 2008

In a major speech given today at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington DC, former Vice President Al Gore challenged the US to end its reliance on carbon-based fuels and to “commit to producing 100 percent of our electricity from renewable energy and truly clean carbon-free sources within 10 years.”

A few years ago, it would not have been possible to issue such a challenge. But here’s what’s changed: the sharp cost reductions now beginning to take place in solar, wind, and geothermal power—coupled with the recent dramatic price increases for oil and coal—have radically changed the economics of energy.

La Nina – Confusing James Hansen For 25 Years

In 1988, Hansen predicted that it would be the hottest year ever. It wasn’t, so he blamed his misprediction on an “unusual Pacific Ocean current” i.e. La Nina.

Twenty five years later, Hansen still hasn’t figured out that La Nina is a normal part of the climate.

Yes We Can’t

Obama says he can stop droughts and floods, but he was unable to stop a 30% probability of rain which convinced him to move his speech indoors. Can someone explain how that works?
