CRU shows temperatures in Illinois barely rising, at about 0.007 degrees per year since 1850. But it is worse than it seems. Essentially all of the rise occurred before 1930.

Until about 10 years ago, NOAA , GISS and CRU all agreed that the US was not warming. NOAA and GISS decided to correct the problem by tampering with the data.

Phil Jones and NOAA had clearly stated that there was no warming in the US.

Last week, scientists from the United States Commerce Department’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said that a study of temperature readings for the contiguous 48 states over the last century showed there had been no significant change in average temperature over that period. Dr. (Phil) Jones said in a telephone interview today that his own results for the 48 states agreed with those findings.

Hansen himself said that he didn’t see anything happening in the US, before he fully turned to the dark side.

Since 1930, Chicago (42.5,-87.5) temperatures have been dead flat.

According to University Of Colorado satellite data, sea level around the lower 48 has been rising at 1.4mm/year since 1992, which is less than half of their published global average.

But it is worse than it seems – Since the year 2000, sea level around the US has been falling at 0.3 mm per year, and there is no Cape Hatteras to Cape Cod Hot spot.

The mental midgets behind the USGS study, confused post-glacial rebound and subsidence with sea level rise.

Answer : Yes, the White House has been giving guns to Mexican drug traffickers, and they are using the guns to kill US citizens. If a Republican president did this, he would face immediate impeachment. Not to mention the stonewalling and contempt of Congress.

The sea level studies which came out last week demonstrate that global warming has left the realm of junk science and is now a full blown junk religion.

Hansen wrote that “multi-metre sea level rise this century was nearly dead certain” His basis for this bizarre claim is that he believes that the West Antarctic Ice Sheet will “collapse” after the year 2080. Ignoring the fact that the concept is idiotic, let’s assume for a minute that he is correct. Hansen expects that sea level will suddenly accelerate in about 70 years.

Because Pope Hansen normally delivers mass in Latin, the congregation apparently missed the seventy years part, and started evangelizing that sea level in San Francisco may rise one foot over the next twenty years.

There are two tide gauges in the San Francisco Bay – one shows 0.00 mm/year since 1980, and the other shows -0.78 mm/year since 1980.

I pointed this out to the lead author Gary Griggs, who responded by telling me that west coast tide gauges had “leveled out” over the last decade, and that the Alameda tide gauge was likely affected by uplift.

His response was absurd. The San Francisco gauge has been dead flat for three decades – how could it have “leveled out” over the last decade? The Alameda tide gauge is built on fill dirt more than five miles to the west of the strike-slip Hayward Fault. It is more likely that the Alameda tide gauge is subsiding than that it is rising.

Griggs and NRC have no basis for their claims. There is no existing data to back up rapid sea level rise in California over the next twenty years, and Hansen’s WAIS collapse theory doesn’t support it either.

This is a classic case of a religious cult run amok, which doesn’t even bother to listen to their own clergy any more.

CRU data shows that Colorado temperatures have not changed at all since 1850 (0.00 degrees/year)  April 1870 was the most anomalously warm month at 6.3C above normal.

Fire experts have been blaming the fires this year on rising temperatures in Colorado, because they are looking at tampered data from NOAA and GISS, like the graph below.
